The Applications Engineer will be responsible for the support of trials and programming improvements made through combination of software and applications modifications deemed required for particular parts/process. Additionally, this position would be responsible for software activity completed offsite and working this through a standard project management method (scope, estimate engineering hours, reviews, regular project updates with hours report, testing in Rock Hill, if possible, along with delivery and training).
This role is key in suggesting recommendations based on trial outcomes to provide solutions based on desired outcomes.
+ Contributes by providing insights to our global technology center in generating our next generation products.
+ Collaborate with our business development team to execute customer application trials as the customer assesses LASER and Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM) technology for their own needs.
+ New Product Introduction (NPI) manages the lifecycle of products from initial planning and concept to a final product. This includes coordinating all activities across design, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing to ensure on-time delivery and alignment with product objectives.
+ Development of machine tools and processes using LASER Ablation, LASER Drilling, LASER Welding, and/or EDM.
+ Research and recommend improvements on automation of machines as the industry pushes for more advanced manufacturing based on trial outcomes.
+ Advise on trials and programming improvements made through a combination of software and applications modifications.
+ Provide manufacturing engineering support for both internal and external customers.
+ Designs, develops, and delivers engaging and effective training to educate internal and external customers on our tools and equipment.
+ Provide dedicated sales support for both machine tool and parts manufacture, working both independently and in collaboration with the sales team. This will include conducting customer visits, handling customer inquiries, and performing product demonstrations of technology to drive sales and ensure high customer satisfaction.
+ Create and maintain various documentation to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for application developments used to report out to customers.
Requirements
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar degree. (or equivalent education and experience)
+ Three (3) years of experience with LASER processing - ablation, micromachining, welding, cutting, drilling, etc.
+ A minimum of three (3) years of experience with on-site customer support.
Other Requirements
+ Applicant must be a US citizen or Green Card Holder based on customer facility requirements.
+ Must be able to successfully complete and maintain additional background clearance and drug and alcohol testing requirements as required by our customers.
+ Project management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver completed task under tight deadlines. • Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, D365, etc.).
+ Travel up to 75% of the time domestically and internationally. Primary travel will be within the US. Ability and willingness to travel via car, air, or other transportation method to customer sites and company locations.
+ Familiarity with programmable logic controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
+ Experience in industrial automation/manufacturing environment.
+ Proven strength and experience in Project Management/Planning.
+ Competence in the use of NX or other CAD/CAM packages.
