Minimum Experience 0 Summary The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board’s Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board’s internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes. Position Requirements Project Description The User Experience and Digital Innovation (UXDI) section supports the Division of Monetary Affairs by designing and developing programs, applications, and processes that enhance research, analysis, and policy work. Our team is seeking a UX Intern to join our cross-functional team of web developers and UX designers for Summer 2026. This internship will focus on improving our SharePoint Online intranet sites through user-centered design approaches and implementation of business-driven enhancements. Project Objectives • Enhance user experience and functionality of existing SharePoint Online intranet sites • Implement design improvements based on user research and best practices • Support the modernization of our digital workplace tools • Ensure compliance with security and software standards Desired qualifications and skills Education: • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field Required Skills: • Creative and strategic thinking capabilities • Effective written and verbal communication skills • Ability to present design decisions and receive constructive feedback • Strong analytical and problem-solving approach • Foundational knowledge of user research methods (interviews, surveys, card sorting) • Basic understanding of information architecture principles Preferred Experience: • Coursework in user research methods, information architecture, and interaction design • Academic projects demonstrating application of UX principles • Ability to create wireframes using industry-standard tools • Familiarity with usability testing methods • Knowledge of design systems and component libraries • Understanding of accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG) • Portfolio demonstrating UX design process and outcomes • Experience with SharePoint or other content management systems • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, or front-end frameworks • Familiarity with responsive design principles • Understanding of agile project management concepts Required Documents for Application : Resume, unofficial transcript Location : This internship will be fully onsite at our offices in Washington, DC.
