    What You Will Achieve

     

    The Seasonal Strain Change Vaccines (SSCV) group is looking for an experienced molecular biologist to support several vaccine programs. In this position, you will play an important role in the design, cloning and validation of vaccine construct candidates to support multiple vaccine programs across Pfizer Vaccines while working in a very dynamic and collaborative environment. The selected candidate will directly interact with their manager and other group members on a regular basis as well as functional lines within Pfizer Vaccines.

    How You Will Achieve It

    + Design and characterize/validate plasmid constructs using different molecular biology approaches.

    + Utilize high-throughput instruments such as the Hamilton Microlab Star liquid handler, Celigo and/or Cytation 5 cytometers, Lunatic spectrophotometer and KingFisher Apex purification system.

    + Collect and analyze data, establish new protocols, generate SOPs and support identification/troubleshooting of technical issues.

    + Work independently to analyze, interpret and summarize experimental data.

    + Regularly present data and progress to colleagues and senior management.

    + Maintain a detailed inventory of freezer reagents and samples.

    + Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with the Pfizer Laboratory Notebook Policy.

    Qualifications

    Must-Have

    + Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, Life Sciences or related discipline with 3+ years of experience in molecular biology techniques or Master's degree in a related discipline with 0- 2 years of experience.

    + Experience in working with liquid handler workstations for high-throughput and/or screening purposes.

    + Extensive molecular biology experience including cloning and Sanger sequencing analysis.

    + Expertise using Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, macros and functions).

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software, including GraphPad, Geneious or DNA Star.

    + Strong attention to detail, multitasking skills, and ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.

    + Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent writing and communication skills.

    Nice-to-Have

    + Previous knowledge and experience working on viral vaccine programs.

    + Experience in standard cell culture techniques under BSL2 conditions including transfection, cell electroporation, etc.

    + Experience with LIMS, GeneData or similar biopharma platforms for data integration.

    Physical/Mental Requirements

    + Work is primarily performed at the laboratory bench and at an office desk using a computer. The job involves lifting relatively light loads, not more than 10 pounds. This position may require the ability to stand and reach inside the hardware environment of various laboratory robotic equipment.

    The annual base salary for this position ranges from $66,500.00 to $110,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
