    Are you ready to make a real impact in the fight against cancer? UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Oncology Outcomes Specialist to join our Cancer Registry Team at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.

    _What You'll Do:_

    + Follow-Up Functions: Perform all cancer registry-related follow-up tasks, ensuring accurate and timely updates.

    + Collaborative Interaction: Work effectively and courteously with physicians, patients, and healthcare professionals.

    + Compliance Operations: Conduct daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly follow-up operations in line with UPMC Network Registry policies and national guidelines.

    + Data Accuracy: Maintain a 90% follow-up rate for patients diagnosed within the last five years and an 80% rate for all patients from the registry reference date.

    Responsibilities:

    + Assist the manager in coordinating activities and performs all follow-up duties and related activities according to established policies, procedures, national and Commonwealth regulations and works to maintain a follow up success rate of at least 90% for cases abstracted in a five year timeframe and 80% for entire database.

    + Review the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry Mortality Listing annually and updates the follow-up database accordingly to assure accurate vital and disease status.

    + Print pathology reports weekly and reviews monthly by the Oncology Outcomes Specialist to ensure accurate and complete casefinding.

    + Run monthly follow up reports to assure compliance and reviews strategies with manager to assure standards are met.

    + Perform other functions and tasks required to maintain a current and accurate database and stay in compliance with the requirements of UPMC, American College of Surgeons (ACoS), Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations (JCAHO).

    + Review MARS mortality reports and radiation reports on a weekly bases and updates the follow-up database as necessary.

    + Patient that are lost must be investigated to obtain vital and disease status.

    + Compare the Social Security Death Index to cancer registry database periodically and updates the database as necessary.

    + Patients must be followed on a yearly basis by performing basic follow-up procedures on patients due for follow-up each month to assure a complete and accurate database.

    + High school diploma and one year oncology or abstracting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

    + Associate's or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred.

    + Proficient in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, abstracting techniques, AJCC and SEER summary staging systems, ICDO, ICD-9-CM, and/or other clinical coding systems.

    + Experience with hospital data systems, Microsoft Office software products and personal computers.

    + Accurate and efficient keyboarding skills necessary to meet productivity standards.

    + Registry experience or education are preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification preferred.

    + Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
