    Description

    The two temporary part-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program clinical coordinators are responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the DMS Program Director. The DMS clinical coordinators must evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of the affiliate/clinical education centers. Ensuring the effectiveness of clinical affiliates may be demonstrated through overseeing, monitoring, and communicating with the Clinical Coordinator regarding student clinical rotations, the number of cases, and completion of required competencies by all students.

     

    This is a temporary position for Spring 2026.

     

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Communicates professionally, both orally and in written form, with students, college personnel, clinical sites, the community, and accrediting agencies.

    + Proficient use of technology, including using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Learning Management Systems.

    + Attends college meetings, including divisional, departmental, and faculty meetings.

    + Ensures curriculum effectiveness through development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of program curriculum to ensure student learning aligns with accreditation requirements, course, and program learning outcomes.

    + Evaluates instructional resources utilized for courses within the program and ensures all classrooms, laboratories, and equipment utilized by the program's students are maintained and presentable for student use.

    + Evaluates, develops, and provides feedback on program course materials, current changes in practice, standards of practice, and course and program outcomes, and considers input from the communities of interest to provide continuous improvement to courses within the curriculum.

    + Identify rising-risk students and implement an action plan and/or student counseling to aid in student success.

    + Maintains student records regarding student admission, advisement, counseling, attendance, and progress per FERPA.

    + Conduct periodic surveys to evaluate curricular effectiveness.

    + Safeguards the health and safety of patients, students, and faculty associated with the students' educational activities.

    + Maintains open communication with the DMS Program Director and other College personnel regarding curriculum development, student progress, and course learning outcomes.

    + Evaluates and documents student performance promptly and accurately based upon course/DMS rubrics and College requirements.

    + Communicates with students, DMS Program Director and other College personnel in a timely manner.

    + Ensures that the number of students assigned to the clinical affiliate/center has a student/clinical staff ratio of not greater than one-to-one.

    + Completes student clinical placements in accordance with the clinical site/affiliate placement requirements and student course requirements to ensure equitable clinical education.

    + Creates and maintains records of student evaluations indicating the number and type of procedures performed by the student, the examination findings, the extent of student supervision, and the level of involvement of the student in scanning/performance to meet the minimum numbers of procedures and types of procedures required from the DMS program.

    + Regularly communicates with clinical sites/affiliates, and visits the clinical sites/affiliates to observe the students in the clinical setting, while working as the DMS program liaison for each clinical site/affiliate.

    + Assists the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director with clinical site contract management.

    + Utilizes the Trajecsys clinical tracking system for all assigned clinical courses.

    OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

    The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education Required:

    + Possess a minimum of an Associate's degree

    + Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the concentration(s) offered

    + Possess credentials in Abdominal (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) through the ARDMS

    + Possess CPR BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

    Experience Required:

    + Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field

    + Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and in educational theories and techniques

    + Documentation of experience in educational theories and techniques may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques

    Qualifications Preferred:

    + Baccalaureate degree

    + Possess RVT credential

    + Prior teaching experience in a diagnostic medical sonography program

    Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:

    + Maintaining current and active ARDMS status based on credentials is required.

    + Ability to communicate orally and in written forms with students, College personnel, clinical sites, and the community is required.

    + All personnel within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program must be familiar with the program goals and be able to demonstrate the ability to develop and execute an organized plan of instruction and evaluation.

    Physical Requirements:

    Work standing on his/her feet 70 percent of the time. Have full use of both hands, wrists, and shoulders. Occasionally push/pull and bend/stoop. Occasionally lift more than 50 pounds.

    Required Documents:

    + A CV and cover letter are required to complete the application process.

    + Official transcript(s) required upon hire.

    + Proof of current and active ARDMS status with necessary credentials is required.

    + Proof of current CPR BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

    + Employment is contingent upon clear Criminal Background Check, drug screen, PA child abuse and PA fingerprinting results.

    + Additional clearances may be required, in accordance with clinical affiliate/site requirements.

    INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:

    Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
