    About Daybreak Independent Services, Inc.

     

    In 2010, Daybreak Independent Services opened its doors for individuals with developmental disabilities to learn and apply their skills in a traditional work setting. Since then, Daybreak has expanded its mission to multiple locations adding both people and additional services. DBIS Serves hundreds of New Yorkers living with developmental disabilities.

     

    Partnerships with local businesses like Stew Leonard, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls have allowed the vision to grow exponentially. In addition, taking on residential programs has allowed us to serve those that need round-the-clock supervision.

    Job Title: Supervisor of Day Services

     

    Job Classification: Full-time

     

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

     

    Hours and Schedule: Monday – Friday (40 hours a week).

     

    Salary: $23 - $24

    Job Description Summary

    To train Day program staff and individuals, focusing on the behavioral side. This position reports directly to the Coordinator of Day Services.

     

    Roles and Responsibilities

     

    + Responsible for Planning and Supervision of the Day Hab Program under the OPWDD/OMIG rules and regulations.

    + Provide Direct Support Professional staff training in the Day Services program to ensure they can perform their job responsibilities.

    + Ensures staff are documenting daily behavioral occurrences/incidents and assists them when required.

    + Training staff in person-centered activities and ensuring they provide quality services.

    + Establishes and maintains open, positive lines of communication with staff, individuals, and all agency departments.

    + Participate in semi-annual, annual staff action review meetings and Life plan review meetings when required.

    + Participate in OPWDD and provider association training when required.

    + Assist DSP with behavioral incidents and train them to be proactive to reduce incidents.

    + Ensures all individual safeguards are followed, such as but not limited to medications.

    + Complete core competencies for staff which will be used for staff evaluations.

    + Actively encourage and promote the agency's culture, teamwork, and collaboration between all staff members.

    + Any other duties as requested by the BIS to ensure the safety and well-being of the disabled individuals served by Daybreak.

     

    Role: Communication

     

    + Promote, Create and maintain open lines of communication with BIS, DSP, and related department

    + Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely fashion.

    + Follow up on any correspondence or recommendations.

    + Organize and conduct monthly staff meetings.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

    + Ability to run.

    + Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20lb items.

    + Demonstrate patience, ability to learn, and utilize systematic procedures to enhance an individual's independence and quality of life.

    + Prefer one year of OPWDD experience.

    + Complete Daybreak's Orientation.

    + Ability to communicate effectively with others and individuals

    REQUIREMENTS:

    + Verbal and written communication skills.

    + Computer savvy.

    + Professional and pleasant attitude.

    + Day Hab program or I/DD population experience preferred.

    + Experience working with specialized populations of adults.

    + Managerial experience preferred (at least 1-Year).

    + The Supervisor must be able to work alone in an unsupervised environment

    + Must have a valid Driver's License.

    Education:

    + Associate Degree in Human Services or Psychology preferred.

    + High School diploma/GED required.
