The Department of Earth Sciences at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the field of hydrogeology. We seek a broadly trained earth scientist who uses hydrogeology to investigate critical societal concerns. Specifically, we envision hiring a hydrogeologist who collects physical and/or chemical hydrologic data from surface and groundwater field sites and analyzes data using appropriate techniques to investigate changes in hydrologic systems, whether natural or human-induced. We seek an active researcher who will complement departmental strengths in the intersection of environmental geoscience and global change.
The successful applicant will teach a mix of undergraduate and graduate classes. They will also develop and maintain a research program supported by external grants. Additionally, the candidate is expected to recruit, mentor, and supervise PhD and master's students, as well as contribute to departmental service and community outreach efforts. At the Associate Professor level, the successful candidate should have a record of grant-funded research and demonstrated success supervising undergraduate and graduate students. Requirements include a PhD in earth science, geology, or a related field by the appointment date of August 17, 2026. Preferred Qualifications:
+ Post-doctoral research experience in Earth Science, Geology, or a related field
+ Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
+ Mentoring experience of undergraduate and graduate students
