Description
SAIC is seeking a **Deputy Engineering Director** to work closely with the Engineering Director and assists in directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations within the organization by managing multiple sections, work groups, and/or service areas and provides highly responsible and complex technical and administrative support to the Engineering Director. **This position is 100% remote.**
The** **Deputy Engineering Director will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
+ Assists in the management of the organization
+ Provides strategic vision on the organization’s policies and programs including monthly budget reviews, work plan implementation and reporting
+ Provide value-added expertise in engineering subject and projects
+ Manages and participates in the preparation and review of a variety of reports; conducts studies and prepares reports for current and long-range engineering projects
+ Assist with the development of a result oriented engineering team to service the organization’s business and its customers
+ Identifies needs that are not being addressed by current projects and heavily contributes in the development of new projects
+ Identifies and implement innovative processes for tracking baseline performance in a number of operational areas
+ Establish standardized operational performance metrics to ensure and quantify impacts of programs and delivery
+ Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work plan for assigned staff; assigns work activities, projects, and programs; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems
+ Ensures that the policies and procedures implemented are consistent with evidence-based best practices
+ Develop multi-year project line roadmap and strategy
+ Participates in the development and administration of the annual budget; participates in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures
+ Gather performance feedback regularly from other subsidies consuming services
+ Help win business and solve challenging problems
+ Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommends, policy, appropriate service and staffing levels
+ In consultation with the Engineering Director and other subsidiaries leadership, establish standards and process for providing of resources
+ Assist with establishing minimum engineering and constructions standards applicable to the context in which the organization works
+ Inventory best practices currently in use across the organization, and the industry, and recommend appropriate standards for project delivery, to include:
1. _project budget development and approval processes_
2. _project lifecycle and gateways_
3. _Risk management through project risk registers and appropriate reserves_
4. _Reporting and forecasting project performance_
5. _Closeout reviews_
6. _Compliance_
7. Provide execution oversight for important research, development, monitoring and evaluation efforts.
Qualifications
Required Education:
+ Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years’ experience; additional four (4) years’ experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
Required Clearance:
+ Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required.
Required Skills:
+ Minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible engineering experience including 3 of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
Desired Skills:
+ MBA or Master’s Degree in engineering
+ Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Required Certifications:
+ Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
