The Development Technician carries out technical development assignments from general sets of instructions to assist a Development Engineer in the successful completion and transfer of a project(s) with limited supervision. Important aspects of the position include the proficient operation of a variety of instruments and equipment, and skillful execution of techniques and procedures. Furthermore, the Development Technician II will establish procedures and techniques for new operations (equipment, instrument, process, etc.). Major criteria for successful performance are initiative, innovativeness, practicality, adaptability, dependability/willingness, neatness and safety-consciousness.
The Development Technician will exhibit open and honest communication with supervisors and peers, as well as keeping supervisors well informed of project status with pertinent, objective information. The position requires the willingness to establish a good working relationship with peers by cooperation, mutual assistance, and exchange of information. Due to the small lab facility, the ability to work well in close proximity to others, as well as neatness and organization are required. The Development Technician will also assist others in becoming familiar with procedures, techniques and operation of equipment and instruments.
Responsibilities:
+ Set up equipment, perform experiments, make appropriate measurements, and prepare samples from general sets of instructions with minimal supervision
+ Proficiently operate equipment and instruments
+ Maintain accurate records and perform data analysis
+ Write clear reports which will include conclusions and recommendations
+ Participate in safety meetings
+ Order and inventory raw materials and project supplies
+ Carry out manufacturing trials in partnership with development engineers
Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ Associate's degree in technical discipline preferred
+ At least 1 year of industry experience in a lab environment
+ Comfort level operating lab equipment.
+ Computer proficiency and familiar with Microsoft Excel
+ Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
+ Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
Compensation:
+ $19.74 - $26.33 / hour
+ Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
