    This position will be performed fully remote. If telecommuting, PeaceHealth will provide the caregiver with necessary computer equipment. It is the responsibility of the caregiver to provide Internet access. Must be able to travel to each site for project work.** *****Must reside in Washington, Oregon, or Alaska. ***

     

    PeaceHealth is seeking a **Pharmacy Compliance & Inventory Specialist for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position.**

     

    The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $28.02 – $42.04.

     

    The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

    Job Summary

    Works with system pharmacy resources to support the proper management of inventory, purchasing and to ensure compliance within contracting/rebates, clinic pharmacy licensure and retail operations. Collaborates with other departments to coordinate programs and services which relate to pharmacy policy and procedures and contributes to the fulfillment of PeaceHealth's mission and values.

    Details of Position

    + Monitors and manages inventory management systems at sites to establish highest efficiency and transparency; tracks savings initiatives.

    + Monitors and manages compliance policies related to pharmacy administration, which includes coordination of internal and external regulatory audits required to maintain accreditation and licensing.

    + Monitors purchasing trends and assists in establishing preferred products that take advantage of wholesaler or GPO contract and programs to lower drug expenditures.

    + Evaluates and maintains pharmaceutical stock in all patient care departments and clinics to ensure compliance to medication safety standards.

    + Ensures organizational compliance of current DEA and State regulations regarding controlled substances, and current federal and state licensing regulations, as well as best-practices in health system pharmacy. This includes ongoing and regular oversight of software(s) for controlled substance diversion. This oversight will include follow up with nursing leaders about caregiver potential diversion, interface with the diversion team, and documentation of investigations of diversion and results.

    + Assists pharmacy leadership in reporting diversion to the DEA, Pharmacy Commission, and the DEA Registrant. Works with medical group and hospital leaders to assure controlled substance discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner. Audits controlled substance purchasing monthly to assure that what was ordered was received and what was received was processed properly.

    + Works with various regulatory entities (i.e., State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission, DEA, DSHS, State Department of Health, ASHP, etc.) to gather information as requested for audits. Primary responsibility for completing yearly Pharmacy Commission self-inspection working with pharmacy leaders.

    + Supports multiple applications, including 340B monthly audits and diversion detection and prevention audits. This will include a prescribed number of random caregiver-controlled substance audits each week.

    + Identifies compliance issues, recommend and assist in implementing corrective action plans to improve performance outcomes and audit findings.

    + Oversees licensure and management of Health Care Entity (HCE) clinic sites. This will include management of Power of Attorney forms for clinics and other areas that store and/or order controlled substances and keep them updated including when new caregivers start and old caregivers leave.

    + Oversees refrigerator/freezer temp monitoring. This will include the yearly calibrations necessary and assure compliance certificates are available for inspections.

    + Oversees pharmacist and technician competency compliance and assure documentation is in place for inspections.

    + Performs lead pharmacy technician duties when necessary. This will include continual training of technician staff and follow up when necessary. Fill in various pharmacy technician roles occasionally in order to maintain knowledge base of the technician position or in the event of a severe staff shortage.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    What You Bring

    + Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and

    + Required: Accredited Program Pharmacy Technician from a Pharmacy Commission approved technician training program

    + Required: Minimum of 3 years Pharmacy experience to include experience with compliance reporting and

    + Preferred: Education/Experience with medical terminology

    + Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician - National and

    + Required: Certified Pharmacy Tech - Washington

    + Certified Pharmacy Tech - Alaska

    + Certified Pharmacy Technician - Oregon

    Skills

    + Experience setting up inventory within BD Logistics and pharmacy purchasing (Required)

    + Ability to travel up to 30% to PeaceHealth sites (Required)

    + Familiarity with 340B, Own Use, Retail, Acute, and Ambulatory purchasing (Required)

    + Uses critical thinking skills, works independently to provide financial navigation through community interaction with patients (Required)

    + High level of responsibility on processes related to patient financial and assisted government services (Required)

    + Proficient use of computers including MS Office application specifically Excel and PowerPoint (Required)

    + Working knowledge of standard office equipment (Required)

    + Ability to quickly and efficiently navigate and utilize internet-based programs (Required)

    + Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills (Required)

    + Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills in a stressful environment (Required)

    + Ability to work both independently and interdependently with staff, providers, and individuals outside of the Infusion Center to include other PeaceHealth Caregivers and individuals in the community with limited or no supervision (Required)

    + Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills (Required)

    + Good Mathematical and analytical skills (Required)

     

    Working Conditions

    _Lifting_

    + Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

    + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.

    + Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 5 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.

    + Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.

    + Reaching frequently.

    + Squat/ kneel/ bend occasionally.

    _Environmental Conditions_

    + Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

    + Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

    _Mental/Visual_

    + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

    + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
