Position Overview

At International’s Huntsville Powertrain Plant, we are seeking a Materials Logistics Manager to lead our inbound logistics operations. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving efficiency, championing Lean principles, and managing a high-performing team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In this highly impactful role, you’ll ensure our logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently—supporting daily plant operations, advancing safety and quality standards, and fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee and optimize inventory levels exceeding tens of millions of dollars—driving accurate demand forecasting, reducing discrepancies, and aligning inventory strategies with financial and operational goals.
+ Lead all aspects of materials management including procurement, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and storage.
+ Develop and implement robust policies, procedures, and material control systems to ensure timely and cost-effective availability of materials.
+ Coordinate material schedules with purchasing, production, and engineering teams to meet operational requirements while minimizing inventory.
+ Utilize ERP systems to prepare and manage material requirement plans in support of production control.
+ Direct daily logistics operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
+ Adjust schedules and priorities based on demand, material availability, and plant needs.
+ Lead Lean initiatives including 5S, real-time process management, and continuous improvement projects.
+ Manage departmental budgets, labor resources, and long-term workforce planning.
+ Identify and resolve logistics and supply chain issues swiftly and effectively.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with Corporate Logistics, Production, Procurement, and Engineering teams.
+ Mentor, coach, and develop a team of 10+ materials planners and analysts—building a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth.
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ At least 6 years of materials management or supply chain experience
+ At least 1 year of lead experience
OR
+ Master’s degree
+ At least 4 years of materials management or supply chain experience
+ At least 1 year of lead experience
OR
+ At least 8 years of materials management or supply chain experience
+ At least 1 year of lead experience
Additional Requirements
+ Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field (highly desired).
+ Proven track record managing large-scale logistics operations in manufacturing, with specific expertise in inventory exceeding $10M+ (preferred).
+ Extensive experience in supplier performance, supply chain including overseas, warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, and material availability.
+ Strong leadership skills with a history of developing and managing high-performing logistics teams.
+ Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers (strong plus).
+ Proficient in ERP systems and data analytics to drive decision-making and cost control.
+ Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
+ Knowledge of safety, quality, and compliance standards in a manufacturing setting.
+ Strong financial acumen including understanding of P&L drivers, budgeting, and cost control.
+ Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
+ Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
