             OVERVIEW: The Sensors Development Team at Aramco’s Houston Research Center creates new, often disruptive technologies for obtaining the information needed to optimize drilling and production. We’re looking for a creative, hands-on problem solver who plays well with others, likes to tackle big challenges, and takes responsibility for delivering results. Our interests include: robotics and autonomous systems, sensor platforms, facilities automation, multiphase flow measurement, rheology and composition of oilfield fluids, emissions monitoring, and fiber optic sensing. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: + Design mechanical systems with a focus on creating simple, elegant solutions that bring significant innovation to solving measurement challenges with robotic systems + Conduct simulation analyses of mechanical systems to ensure compatibility with deployment environment + Develop prototypes of robotics systems to be used in lab and field environments + Collect and analyze lab data and field data to get information about environmental conditions and processes, evaluate system performance, and understand the origins of failures / successes + Manage engineering projects to ensure high quality results and timely delivery on commitments + Provide technical insights and experienced guidance to help other people in the team do their best work and deliver great results + Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences; support drafting of patent applications + Must have experience with computer aided design and simulation software relevant to your discipline + Occasional travel required to technical conferences and to support testing new technologies at our facilities in Saudi Arabia + We’re particularly interested in people whose experience includes materials and manufacturing for the downhole environment, robotics and automation, signal processing, or engineering project management MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS + Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline from a recognized college or university. MS or PhD preferred. + Nine years applicable experience, such that the incumbent is clearly recognized as an expert in the field. + Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined. + Must have a thorough knowledge of engineering practices including scientific and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, and codes, standards and specifications.
