    Position Summary...

     

    Walmart is opening its third owned and operated milk processing facility in Robinson, Texas, scheduled to begin operations in 2026. The state-of-the-art facility will process and bottle a variety of milk options including Gallon, Half Gallon, Whole, 2%, 1%, Skim, 1% Chocolate Milk, and Cream for Walmart's Great Value and Sam's Club's Member's Mark brands. This new facility represents Walmart's commitment to building a more resilient and transparent supply chain, sourcing high-quality milk primarily from Texas dairy farmers to serve more than 750 Walmart stores and Sam's Clubs throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and parts of Arkansas and Mississippi.

    Sanitation Specialist Job Overview

     

    The Sanitation Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant facility. This individual ensures adherence to sanitation protocols, performs equipment cleaning and maintenance, and supports food safety initiatives in coordination with the Sanitation Manager, Quality Assurance (QA) team, and other business partners. The role requires a strong commitment to regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and collaboration, along with excellent attention to detail and adaptability.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Sanitation Compliance & Program Monitoring**

    + Oversee Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems, and the Pest Control program in collaboration with the Sanitation Manager to ensure compliance.

    + Assist with internal audits, pathogen swabbing, root cause analyses, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to address food safety issues.

    + **Facility & Equipment Maintenance**

    + Conduct and document assigned sanitation activities to maintain facility and equipment hygiene standards.

    + Manage sanitation supplies, tools, and utensils to ensure readiness for use.

    + Perform routine, preventive, and special-case cleaning and maintenance as required.

    + **Food Safety Compliance**

    + Maintain compliance with government food safety and quality standards, including Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards.

    + Collaborate with the Sanitation Manager and chemical contractors to recommend optimal chemical solutions for plant sanitation.

    + Support adherence to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), food safety codes, laws, and requirements by conducting validation tests and product evaluations.

    Daily Cleaning Operations:

    + Safely transport and connect high-pressure water hoses to designated water and chemical sources for effective cleaning of production equipment.

    + Use high-pressure water and handheld sprayers to clean production lines thoroughly, spot-clean residual proteins using scrubbing tools, and ensure cleanliness.

    + Attain and maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) authorized user status to ensure equipment safety during cleaning.

    + Assist QA associates during pre-operations inspections, addressing unsanitary conditions or unresolved cleaning tasks as needed.

    Workplace Safety & Culture:

    + Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as rain gear, boots, and goggles.

    + Operate machinery and cleaning tools safely and report hazards, injuries, or near-misses immediately.

    + Contribute to the continuous improvement of workplace safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in work areas to prevent accidents.

    Collaboration & Accountability:

    + Foster strong communication and collaboration with managers, co-workers, and business partners to meet goals and expectations.

    + Communicate progress updates and participate actively in identifying and suggesting areas for improvement.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    + Strong knowledge of sanitation standards, food safety regulations, and compliance protocols (e.g., SSOPs, FSMA, cGMPs, and SQF).

    + Familiarity with sanitation tools, cleaning agents, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

    + Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

    + Clear communication skills and adaptability to learn and grow from feedback.
