    Your Responsibilities

    As a **Part Time Student - Battery Cell Engineering** for **John Deere Power Systems** located in **Chicago, IL** , you will....

     

    + Form part of the team that is responsible for battery cell engineering, failure analysis, data analysis, and lab optimization, etc.

    + Support related materials characterization and cell testing data analysis, report writing, standard operating procedure development, and other supporting activities under the direction of a mentor

    + Create documentation and present to various teams

    What Skills You Need

    + Enrolled in an engineering undergraduate program

    + Completion of sophomore year of studies by the time of the employment

    + Minimum required cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. (3.4 or higher preferred)

    + Hands on experience and coursework on materials characterization

    + Experience with materials characterization techniques (e.g. Optical Imaging, SEM, CT Scan, etc.)

    + Strong communication (verbal and written), analytical, and teamwork skills

    + Self-motivated and fast learning skills

    + Available to work 10+ hours/week during the academic year

    + Available to work 40 hours/week over the summer

    + Must be able to work at the John Deere Chicago Office

    What Makes You Stand Out

    + Enrolled in an engineering or related graduate program

    + Hands-on experience with battery cell teardowns and associated test equipment (e.g. glovebox, fixtures, teardown automation, battery cycler, etc.)

    + Advanced coursework on materials characterization and batteries

    + Battery data analysis experience for cell testing and battery model parameterization

    + Involvement with a school club, project, or research working on batteries, electric vehicles, etc.

    + Applied experience with battery materials characterization equipment plus experience with development of standard operating procedures

    + Passionate about vehicle electrification & battery technology

    Education

    Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

    + Bachelor's degree in engineering with materials experience
