This job helps REI succeed by leading financial planning for Co-op Brands. It ensures annual and strategic KPIs for sales, inventory, and profit are planned. In-season risks are managed, and opportunities are maximized. Use plans to match future season line plans, milestone forecasts, and final order amounts. The Planner aligns financial plans with the product team’s assortment strategies. Provide opportunity and risk modeling to stakeholders. Build exceptional relationships with planning, product teams, Product Strategy, and Supply Ops. Influence effective business decisions. Guide the Category Planning Manager and Forecast Analysts through Open to Buy. Maintain proper inventory levels to support the business. Work across divisions to share business trends and align with stakeholders. Model and act according to REI’s values and mission.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities
+ Develops yearly financial plans for classes, departments, and specialty shops. Plans include monthly sales, turn, margin, and receipt flow. Plans are based on corporate and specialty shop goals, market trends, industry trends, and class or vendor opportunities.
+ Accountable for the product/class level reconciliation roll up.
+ Manages future year annual, seasonal and monthly planning KPIs.
+ Manages in season risk and opportunity at the class level through OTB management.
+ Reconciles plans with cross-divisional stakeholders.
+ Understand REI Strategic Plans as they relate to Specialty Shop plans.
+ Supports the education, communication and awareness of planning across the organization.
+ Coordinates with Product teams to execute strategic business plans.
+ Facilitates product aging and life cycle management to achieve sales and profit goals.
+ Manages company financial planning process ensuring bottom up planning reconciles with department & specialty shop top down direction.
+ Provides opportunity/risk scenario planning to support business strategy and decision making.
+ Manages business/event review process in partnership with specialty shop leadership.
+ Identifies, manages, facilitates, and directs reporting best practices with specialty shop leadership. Creates and interprets data for the Merchandising and Digital organization.
Qualifications
+ 5 + years of Merchandising planning experience
+ Bachelors Degree preferred
+ Exceptional understanding of merchandising KPIs.
+ Planning experience to include line of business understanding (Retail channel, Online channel, Vendor/Co-op Brand planning)
+ Lifecycle Item Management and Assortment Planning experience
+ Demonstrated ability to project trends and articulate risks/opportunities to drive buying actions
+ Must be able to influence teams to make changes in business strategy

Pay Range
