Description
The Accounting Policy Sr Manager specializes in developing, recommending, and implementing policies, strategies, and operational guidelines for the specified business or functional area. Develops and reviews policies and procedures to ensure appropriateness and adequacy against industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Primary responsibilities include
+ Reviews and interprets GAAP & regulatory accounting rules and guidance for applicability at the firm.
+ Drafts and publishes memos and documentation regarding the changes and their impact.
+ Partners with business unit controllers and business partners to implement accounting changes and ensures compliance to guidance.
+ Advises on the accounting impacts of new products and changes.
+ Consults with Sr. Management on corporate activities and changes to accounting approaches (i.e. charge offs, accretion, intangibles). Also responsible for M&A due diligence activities, partnering with BU Controllers and Risk partners for alternatives options and the P&L impact.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
+ 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within financial services industry
+ Big-4 accounting firm experience a strong plus
+ CPA required
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree a plus
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to manage time effectively , prioritize competing deliverables and meet deadlines
+ Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively in a team environment
+ Knowledge of MS Office applications, primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Hours & Work Schedule
+ Hours per Week: 40
+ Work Schedule: M-F
