POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Specialist II supports all activities of the Quality Operations Department. These activities serve to meet regulatory requirements, national accreditation standards, facility licensing regulations, applicable laws, best practices, and quality and safety standards.
The Quality Specialist II directly supports the Quality Department’s activities including: HVA, FMEA, FSA, infection control risk analysis, emergency management drill events, annual reviews of related organizational plans and associated data. The Quality Specialist II manages data, prepares written reports for leadership, completes documentation related to projects, teams and committees. The Quality Specialist II monitors and follows up on reportable events, supports all quality and compliance-related trainings, and conducts documentation reviews to ensure standards and requirements are met. The Quality Specialist II also provides direct support to quality committees, CQI Teams and projects, including performing data management and analysis, project planning, documentation of activities, and use of standardized QI tools and process improvement methods. The Quality Specialist II supports the patient/client satisfaction survey process including assisting in the implementation of survey tools, and creation of reports and data analysis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field plus 3 years experience in quality assurance, quality improvement, risk management, or regulatory compliance oversight activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains knowledge and understanding of accreditation, facility licensing, governmental payer and other corporate compliance and regulatory requirements to support organizational quality and compliance activities.
Supports the preparation, facilitation and documentation of national accreditation survey/reporting and preparedness activities related to health and safety, infection control, environment of care, and emergency management. These include but are not limited to: HVA, FMEA, infection control risk analysis, drill events, annual reviews of related organizational plans and associated data.
Provides direct support for all activities associated with Wheeler’s Quality Management Plan including quality and safety-related activities, Quality Council committees, CQI Teams, other projects, and data analysis. Provides meeting support, assistance with data management, project planning, documentation of agendas and minutes, and develops reports and presentations. Uses established quality improvement tools and methods.
Supports Quality Manager in carrying out health and safety initiatives and activities, including those related to Culture of Safety, infection control, emergency management, management of Site Safety Manuals, Safety Liaison training/support, and other duties as assigned.
Supports Director of Clinical Quality in clinical quality of care activities including support with specific projects or teams and performs data analysis and reports as assigned.
Completes all data entry, documents and reports related to safety, quality and risk management in an accurate and timely manner.
Assists in the maintenance and delivery of all departmental trainings including: Privacy & Security/HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance, Health & Safety, Patient Rights, and other quality-related trainings.
Participates in the continuous monitoring of reportable events in the electronic event reporting system, and performs internal notifications and follow-up, as directed, and assists with aggregation of data and the development of associated reports.
Using a high level of attention to detail, assists the Quality Operations Department with report formatting and preparation (inclusive of narrative writing and use of graphs and tables) data collection and analysis, scanning, organization of files, photocopying, printing, laminating, and other administrative functions.
Conducts documentation reviews to ensure quality and compliance requirements are met, and communicates issues to program leadership as needed, and assists in the development of training communications and documents/resources as needed. Maintains documentation of reviews as required and develops regular reports which aggregate and summarize findings.
Demonstrates strong ability to collaborate with all members of Quality management team and peers. Communicates and collaborates with other programs, leaders, and staff disciplines to achieve and maintain high standards of quality, safety and best outcomes.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
