Summary:
Meta is seeking Research Interns to join Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Language & Multimodal Foundations teams. These teams are committed to advancing the field of Artificial Intelligence by making fundamental advances in technologies to help develop agents for multimodal social reasoning. We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as Natural Language Processing, Audio and Speech processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning. Our interns have an opportunity to make core algorithmic advances and apply their ideas at an unprecedented scale.Our teams are looking for candidates with expertise in the Natural Language Processing & Multimodality domains, such as: language modeling, multimodal understanding, pretraining, post-training, inference-time scaling, reinforcement learning, multi-agent interaction, multi-agent RL, reasoning, conversational systems, human-ai interaction. The internship will be centered around research challenges when reasoning in dynamic multi-agent and/or multi-modal scenarios Our team at Meta AI offers twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long internships and we have various start dates throughout the year. Required Skills:
Research Scientist Intern, FAIR - Multi-Agent Multimodal Foundations (PhD) Responsibilities:
1. Perform research that enables developing better agents for multi-agent, multimodal scenarios (using text, audio, images, video, or other modalities)
2. Brainstorm with research mentors, review literature and existing solutions of a challenging real-world research problem
3. Develop novel solutions, implement prototypes, and perform extensive experiments to test the proposed solutions in meaningful benchmarks and metrics, analyze the results and verify the conclusions
4. Draft and polish research reports and/or publications
5. Present research outcomes to internal and/or external audiences
6. Contribute research that can be applied to Meta product development

7. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Natural Language Processing, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent
8. Research and/or work experience in Natural Language Processing, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or equivalent
9. Experience in Python, C++, or other related languages
10. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

11. Experience advancing AI techniques in Natural Language Processing, Speech & Language, Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or Computer Vision, including contributions to open source libraries and frameworks
12. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by fellowships and publications at leading workshops or conferences in Machine Learning (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, COLM, RLC), Computer Vision (CVPR, ECCV, ICCV) or Speech & Language (ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, TACL, ICASSP, Interspeech, SLT, ASRU, TASLP)
13. Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, large scale, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
14. Experience in utilizing theoretical and empirical research to solve problems
15. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
16. Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
Public Compensation:
$7,650/month to $12,134/month + benefits
