Job overview and responsibilities
This position leads the team responsible for domestic network planning functions, with a specific focus on coastal hubs such as San Francisco, Los Angeles and Newark, NJ. The role includes developing route level schedule and capacity plans, new market forecasts and competitive analysis. Additionally, this position will undertake various ad-hoc projects to support senior management as required. The primary objective is to enhance United's profitability by aligning network capacity with monthly market demand and identifying new opportunities.
+ Manage United and United Express domestic network development and create long-term strategic plans
+ Review capacity planning recommendations for coastal hubs and regions; serve as an ongoing mentor/resource for junior members of the team
+ Manage material creation and facilitate ad-hoc projects for senior leadership
+ Lead cross functional initiatives with commercial and operating groups such as Revenue Management, Cargo, Sales, Marketing to align them around one unified strategy and ensure viability of network plans
+ Lead negotiations with airline partners, industry stakeholders, and internal teams to optimize networks and schedules
+ Perform ad-hoc analyses on the broader United network and fleets and make recommendations regarding aircraft purchases, retirements, or reconfigurations
+ Represent United at industry conferences and external stakeholder meetings
NOTE: This position provides a hybrid work arrangement including approximately 50% of the time spent working onsite at our Chicago office location and 50% remotely.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
+ Bachelor's degree
+ 7 + Years of related experience
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in airline industry and/or experience in Revenue Management, Network Planning, Economics, and/or data analysis and 1-2 years of management experience
+ Knowledge of Network Planning tools (schedule manager, profit manager, cost modeling etc) and data sources (MIDT, OAG, ticketing, etc)
+ Ability to write SQL queries
+ Strong knowledge and familiarity with revenue, booking and capacity data sources
+ Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
+ Complex problem solving through independent critical thinking
+ Advanced data manipulation and quantitative analysis skills
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
+ Ability to adapt to changing priorities and moving timelines
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

+ Master's degree in Math, Business, or Analytics
+ Experience leading major initiatives and cross functional strategies
+ Advanced Excel, VBA and/or SQL proficiency
+ Strong management, leadership, and mentoring skills
The base pay range for this role is $124,735.00 to $162,388.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
