CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Ph.D. Program in Anthropology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate (tenured) Professor in the study of race and racism, to begin as early as August 2026.
We are seeking applicants whose work extends the study of race and racism to new domains. We would welcome applications from scholars whose empirical research is grounded in social theory, speaks to interdisciplinary questions of broad significance, and advances our understanding of racial and gendered capitalism. The program is especially interested in scholars whose work centers Black feminist theory or critical materialist approaches to the study of race and racism. Applicants working in all geographic regions are welcome to apply.Candidates with novel and innovative methodological approaches are especially encouraged to apply. We seek a candidate eager to participate in the program’s vibrant academic community.
The Ph.D. Program in Anthropology is committed to excellence in training students for careers in research, teaching, and in non-academic sectors. With over 60 full-time faculty members across the four subfields of the discipline, augmented by a host of affiliated faculty from other institutions near and far, we advise and mentor more than 200 doctoral students of diverse backgrounds and interests.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in Anthropology or a related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.
COMPENSATION
$102,460-$150,000/year (salary range listed is per the 9/1/26 contract rate).
