We are hiring! Join a great team and work in an **air-conditioned plant** in Cheektowaga, NY. We are in need of a **Bag Machine Operator 1st shift** . This is a Temp to Direct hire role. We offer competitive pay for this job and career progression to a higher Operator role.
Hours on 1st shift: Monday through Friday 7AM to 3PM. Rate: $16.50 / hour

Essential Duties and Tasks
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made, upon request, to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
+ Operate pouch machines to produce bags according to customer specifications while making minor adjustments to the machines by detecting details, following instructions and safety procedures, coordinating efforts, testing the product, and remembering/recalling information.
+ Use electric pallet jacks to move full pallets.
+ When a machine is down and/or on a set up, the operator is expected to actively assist the set up person with duties such as splicing, moving pallets, unwrapping pallets, gathering required components for job being set up, such as wickets spools, chip board cartons and so on.
+ Control scrap by performing quality checks, inspecting the product and determining if it is out of specification. If necessary, shut down the machine and obtain assistance from the Bag Setup person.
+ Keep the workplace organized by blowing out the machine, sweeping, and changing the punch bags.
+ Maintain work area per food safety requirements.
+ Complete necessary paperwork and production sheets by comparing different items, following instructions, detecting details, and remembering/recalling information.
+ Perform special projects as assigned within or outside the department or position to assist in the success of ProAmpac-Buffalo Division’s objectives such as training other Bag Operators.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent education.
+ 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
+ Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate effectively with other personnel.
+ Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers or fellow employees.
+ Strong ability to read a ruler and take measurements using a ruler.
+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and interpret bar graphs.
+ Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
