We are hiring! Join a great team and work in an **air-conditioned plant** in Cheektowaga, NY. We are in need of a Slitter Helper for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. This is a Temp to Direct hire role. We offer competitive pay for this job and career progression to a higher Operator role.
Hours on 1st shift: Monday through Firday 7AM - 3PM. $16.50 / hour
Hours on 2nd shift: Monday through Friday 2:45PM to 10:45PM. $16.50 /hr plus $1.00 / hour shift differential.
Hours on 3rd shift: Sunday through Thursday 10:45PM to 6:45AM. $16.50 /hr plus $1.50 / hour shift differential.

Essential Duties and Tasks
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made, upon request, to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
+ Read production board in slitting department, analyze information, coordinate efforts, follow instructions and plan work. Prepare jobs being run on the slitting machines by getting materials and placing them on skids next to the slitters to ensure a continuous run. Follow safety procedures, and inspect work/quality. After production, make sure quality rolls are wrapped and moved to shipping/receiving for shipment to customer.
+ Complete production reports and necessary paper work. Organize and clean up the workplace.
+ Maintain work area per food safety requirements.
+ Perform special projects as assigned within or outside department or position to assist in the success of ProAmpac-Buffalo Division’s objectives, for example training new Slitter Helpers and Rewinders.
+ Follow all the safety precautions and always use personal protection equipment (i.e. steel-toe shoes, hairnet, safety glasses, & safety gloves).
+ Open film for job that is on the machine. Do not open more than needed.
+ Band and wrap up all film not needed.
+ Move the finished job skids to storage and shipping.
+ Wrap finished rolls and plug them with core plugs. Put finished rolls on a tray & skid; make sure they have correct roll and pallet label.
+ Empty the trim box.
+ Garbage should be emptied in the Trash Compactor.
+ Make sure all the supplies (skids, poly, core plugs, etc.) are available.
+ Bring anything that is damaged or not working to operator’s attention immediately.
+ Assist operator with any task needed to maintain an optimum level of production.
+ Work effectively with all departments, especially other Slitting Department personnel in a team environment to develop multi-functional solutions for customers.
+ Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
+ Develop professional and process expertise to provide improved assistance to customers.
+ Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments, and ultimately customers, receive correct information and/or product.
+ Adhere to safety policies and procedures, and all Trinity Packaging-Buffalo Division policies and procedures, as included in the employee handbook to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure behavior is appropriate in the workplace.
+ Keep work area clean and organized by abiding to 5S standards; Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent education.
+ Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate effectively with slitter helpers, slitter operators and the production supervisor.
+ Ability to read, comprehend and write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers or fellow employees.
+ Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with three digit numbers using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to read a tape measure.
+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
+ Some knowledge of flexographic packaging would be helpful.
