The Trust Senior Campaign Writer partners strategically with the campaign executive director, senior leadership, senior science writers, and major gift officers to conceive and create compelling campaign vision documents, promotional literature, and other development communication materials as needed. This role requires a creative, articulate, and adaptable professional who can successfully execute multiple projects on deadline in a fast-paced environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
+ Develop the campaign case, deepening the vision and articulating “moonshots” and other fundraising opportunities across specialties.
+ Serve as a strategic communications partner to the campaign executive director, senior leadership, and frontline fundraisers, developing and implementing communications plans to support campaign goals.
+ Translate complex scientific concepts into elegant, accessible narratives for lay audiences.
+ Interview subject matter experts, gather and synthesize content across specialties, and produce campaign literature.
+ Write proposal, magazine, and stewardship content as needed.
+ Conduct research to support content development, including gathering statistics, program data, and beneficiary testimonials.
+ Develop campaign event collateral, including PowerPoint presentations and speaking points.
+ Collaborate with designers in producing campaign communications and collateral.
+ Partner with fundraising and communications teams to ensure consistent, donor-centered messaging across all campaign materials.
+ Maintain the organization’s brand voice and tone across all written materials.
+ Assist with other projects as needed or assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
+ Required: Bachelor’s degree
+ Preferred: Degree in Communications or related field
Experience:
+ Required: Minimum of 10 years of professional writing experience
+ Preferred: Experience in development, science writing, or marketing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Exceptional writing and storytelling ability: Proven skill in crafting persuasive, donor-focused narratives.
+ Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
+ Meticulous attention to detail: Excellent editing and proofreading capabilities.
+ Strong organizational and project management skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
+ Adaptability: Skilled at shifting tone and style based on audience and communication channel.
+ Technical proficiency: Strong command of PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
