    Job Summary

    Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings | Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligns and fastens machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers | Performs operational tests on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specifications | Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings | Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers)

    Essential Functions

    + Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.

    + Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

    + Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

    + Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.

    Additional Responsibilities

    Day Shift is 7:00AM-4:30PM.

     

    Second Shift is 4:15PM-2:45AM. And the days are Monday through Thursday (4 - 10 hour days).

    Required Qualifications

    + Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree

    + Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred

    + Knowledge, skills & abilities: Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Manual dexterity. Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Leadership skills.

    Physical Requirements

    + Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.

    + Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.

    + May need to stand for long periods of time.

    + Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

    + May be requested to work a different shift.

    + Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.

    + This position is Safety-Sensitive.

    Travel Requirements

    No or very little travel likely.
