    Primary Focus: DOT Regulated Driver

    Key job responsibilities

    • Safe operation of commercial vehicles according to DOT regulations

    • Daily vehicle inspection and maintenance reporting

    • Proper cargo loading, securing, and unloading procedures

    • Accurate completion of electronic logs and delivery documentation

    • Route planning and navigation using GPS technology

    • Timely communication regarding route status

    • Maintain compliance with all DOT hours of service regulations

    • Professional customer interaction during pickup/delivery

    • Proper handling of shipping documentation and electronic devices

    • Immediate reporting of any accidents, incidents, or cargo damage

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle

    • Follow all company safety protocols and procedures

    A day in the life

     

    The Transportation Professional operates commercial vehicles to ensure timely and safe delivery of materials, while maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations. Working with the Transportation Leadership, you will execute delivery plans, maintain accurate documentation, and optimize route efficiency. You will work closely with Data Center teams and warehouse personnel to ensure proper loading, securing, and delivery of cargo. You will also interface with customers at delivery locations and maintain professional communication throughout the delivery process.

     

    In addition, Transportation Professionals are expected to understand all aspects of commercial vehicle operation, adhere to strict safety standards, maintain very high quality of service, and be proficient in using electronic logging devices and mobile delivery applications.

     

    All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Time management, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions are critical to being successful.

     

    You will be required to work varying schedules that may include days/nights/weekends/holidays. Regional travel is inherent to the position. You must maintain a valid Driver's License and meet all DOT physical requirements. A good driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical are essential.

    About the team

    The IAD Logistics Transportation team is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to ensuring the seamless movement of critical parts and equipment across our data center network. Our team leverages technology, including Microsoft Office suite and specialized inventory management systems, to track and monitor the flow of inventory with precision and efficiency.

     

    As a Transportation Driver on our team, your primary goal is to move parts accurately and effectively, serving as the vital link in our supply chain. You'll work closely with logistics specialists, inventory managers, and data center technicians to ensure timely and secure delivery of essential components.

    Key aspects of your role will include:

    Utilizing advanced tracking systems to maintain real-time visibility of inventory in transit

     

    Collaborating with team members using Microsoft tools and other tools to optimize route planning and delivery schedules

     

    Ensuring accurate documentation and data entry for all transported items

     

    Adhering to strict security protocols when handling sensitive equipment

     

    Maintaining open lines of communication with leadership and on-site teams

     

    Continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and reduce transit times

     

    Adapting quickly to changing priorities and urgent delivery needs

    Basic Qualifications

    - High school or equivalent diploma

     

    - Are 18 years of age or older

     

    - Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment

     

    - - Experience DOT regulations and requirements

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems

     

    - Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager

     

    - STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education

     

    - Experience in Commercial Transportation Law

     

    - - Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications

     

    - - Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements and functional/technical depths and complexity for this role

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $43,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $94,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
