Description
Do you want to accelerate how thousands of teams deliver high-quality shopping and reading features to millions of customers around the world? Are you interested in building solutions that scale across diverse and complex software development models and hold teams accountable to a high bar while not requiring them to be experts in specialized customer needs? If yes, you should consider joining our Accessibility Team. We are launching a series of new products that enable builder teams across Amazon to deliver experiences that are born accessible and we are looking for an exceptional technical product manager (PMT) to help us revolutionize the way Amazon builds digital experiences our customers with disabilities love to use.
As the Principal PMT, you will manage a small team of product and program managers and own the definition and delivery of tools and services that scale accessibility practices across the entirety of our Worldwide Stores businesses. This role supports thousands of teams worldwide and is expected to challenge the status quo and drive improvements that transform the way software is developed across Amazon. You will work within hundreds of operating models to determine how to integrate builder systems with centralized tools for design, development, testing, reporting and risk assessment. The impact of this role is substantial, but also ambiguous with a lot of opportunity for invention.
The right candidate will possess a stellar background in complex and strategic product development with a deep expertise and experience in innovation related to accessibility. You will need to drive technical excellence through influence across multiple VP level organizations while maintaining strong customer focus. As a Principal PMT, you must excel at making high-stakes decisions that balance business requirements with technical constraints, while leading through ambiguity. You should have proven success in breaking down complex, strategic initiatives into executable plans and delivering results through others. The role requires high judgment, negotiation capabilities, and the ability to earn trust at executive levels.
You understand product management and engineering best practices and you use that knowledge to drive simple and coherent approaches architecture and system design. You must be able to thrive and succeed in a dynamic environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a Principal PMT, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and anticipate and make tradeoffs, balancing the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications and project plans, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

As the Principal PMT you will:
1. Lead strategic direction and technical roadmap for scaling accessibility across multiple teams and delivering solutions that meet Amazon's highest standards for customer experience, scalability, and operational excellence.
2. Build and develop high-performing product and program management teams while providing mentorship to raise the bar for technical product management across the organization.
3. Define comprehensive, ethical, and scalable methods for measuring and monitoring the impact of accessibility programs and investments on both customers and business driving data-driven decision making and risk assessment practices.
