    Through the design and implementation of various types of research studies and the strategic interpretation of data, the mission of Humana Healthcare Research (HHR) is to produce high-quality, actionable evidence and rigorous, peer-reviewed research to improve health outcomes, guide Humana’s strategy, and advance the body of knowledge for the scientific community and society at large.

     

    HHR needs your data science, research, and advanced analytic skills as part of a team executing a comprehensive portfolio of health outcomes research. We currently maintain a broad set of external partnerships with industry, government, academia, and others to produce high quality research used by a wide array of stakeholders. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience developing collaborative studies and/or analytic efforts with external partners which leverage clinical and administrative data sets. A successful candidate will also be knowledgeable in the process of establishing contracts and executing processes for dataset linkage and data integration in a HIPAA compliant manner. A successful candidate will have expertise in conducting retrospective observational studies using administrative claims data using a collaborative approach across multiple stakeholders.

     

    Humana is seeking a Research Consulting Lead. As part of the HHR team, you will work collaboratively to develop and execute an expanding portfolio of outcomes research studies:

     

    + Leads a study team from study inception to dissemination of research results.

    + Prepares documents and submissions involved in study execution with multiple parties, inclusive of Statements of Work/Responding to RFPs, Budget preparation, Master Service Agreements, IRB Protocols, Data Use Agreements

    + Prepares comprehensive scientific documents which may include study protocols, technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations to communicate study findings.

    + Leverages advanced knowledge of integrated data, modeling, machine learning, and tools for the development of new research and executing on existing contracts.

    + Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision,

    + Advise executives to develop functional strategies on matters of significance.

     

    The Research Consulting Lead works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial. The Research Consulting Lead provides expert guidance around study design, research methodology, analyses and interpretation of results.

     

    Use your skills to make an impact

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree

    + 8 or more years of technical experience

    + 2 or more years of project leadership experience

    + An understanding of research methodology and the managed care arena, and how it applies to health outcomes research

    + Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning, including program evaluation and health outcomes studies

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Master's degree and 10 or more years of technical experience

    + 2 or more years of leadership experience

    + Proficiency with technologies such as SQL, R, Python, and SAS

    + Experience with cloud base analytics platforms

    + Experience with clinical, claims, pharmacy or other healthcare data.

    + Strategic thinking and planning capabilities

    + Excellent verbal and written communication

     

    Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

    Pay Range

    The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

    $126,300 - $173,700 per year

    This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
