    About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites:

    The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) is a statewide museum system with 12 locations, including a central museum based in Indianapolis.     Role Overview:

    The Great Hall Liaison greets visitors and creates a welcoming, easy-to-navigate environment for visitors. You will work in all facets of the department, including reservations, ticketing, cash control, access to galleries, group arrivals, information services, call center, greeting, and other visitor-related services as assigned. You must be able to identify customer needs, initiate resolutions, and communicate clearly.

     

    This is a flexible, predominantly standing and mobile position. You will need to be a self-starter and able to communicate clearly.

    Salary:

    This part-time position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $16.73 per hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

    A Day in the Life:

    Responsibilities include:

    + Greet and welcome all museum visitors with professionalism and friendliness.

    + Provide directions to exhibits, restrooms, ticketing agents, and other facilities.

    + Answer questions about museum hours, exhibits, events, and general policies.

    + Monitor visitor flow and help manage lines or crowds as needed.

    + Support wayfinding and accessibility needs for visitors.

    + Coordinate with security, engagement, visitor services management, and other departments to resolve visitor concerns quickly and effectively.

    + Assist with ticket sales and school group check-ins during peak hours and events.

    + Assist with school group lunch cart collection and retrieving.

    + Serve as greeter for galley entrances.

    + Remain knowledgeable about current and upcoming exhibitions, programs, and services for the institution and the White River State Park venue.

    + Control Museum Communications email and send to proper channels.

    + Sell admission tickets and processes memberships.

    + Process ticket requests for various departments and programs as appropriate.

    + Promote and sell museum memberships.

    + Answer questions concerning rates, schedules, and future attractions.

    + Adhere to accounting procedures for cash management and sales documentation.

    + Process reservations for the IMAX, L.S. Ayers Tea Room, school lunchroom, and programs.

    + Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and monitor reservation capacities.

    + Provide clerical support for files, confirmation letters, educational events, and workshops.

    What You'll Need for Success:

    + Knowledge and skills typically acquired through a high school degree or related work experience.

    + One year of previous experience in sales, call center, customer service, or hospitality-related positions.

    + Knowledge of general accounting and auditing procedures.

    + Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office software and Galaxy software.

    + Knowledge of customer service standards.

    + Ability to operate various types of office equipment.

    + Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

    + Able to work independently.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
