    Role Overview:

    The Human Services Consultant determines, or re-determines, Title IV-E (Foster Care and Adoption Assistance) and IV-A (Acdemic Achievement) program eligibility based upon defined federal and state regulations, polices, and procedures. Your work will require collaboration with the Social Security Administration, the Family and Social Services Administration, and other agencies. You will interpret and analyze fiscal data and other information about children and families to enhance and maintain the Department's various federal and state funding recoveries. You will interact with Family Case Managers, supervisors, County Directors, and Regional Managers to request and clarify information when making determinations and re-determinations. You will provide technical assistance, training, and policy interpretation for Central Office and field staff.

     

    This role requires effective verbal and written commucation skills.

     

    This position is in the central DCS Offices in Indianpolis, Indiana.

    Salary:

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320 per year, but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

    A Day in the Life:

    The essential functions of this role are:

    + Develop specific service program guidelines, policy and procedures.

    + Interpret and implement legislation and regulations from department administration.

    + Develop proposals and statistical tools.

    + Perform analytical review and maintenance of service-specific data.

    + Participate in grant writing process.

    + Continually update knowledge of current trends within specific geographical area assigned.

    + Collaborate with program development staff, except in those situations where incumbent serves in both capacities.

    What You'll Need for Success:

    You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

    + Thorough knowledge of the grants process including allocation, protocol, contracting and evaluation.

    + Specialized knowledge of the program area.

    + Expert knowledge of program-specific networks, terminology and concepts used in the field.

    + Specialized knowledge of departmental, divisional and unit policies and procedures.

    + Working knowledge of fiscal concepts.

    + Skill in interpersonal relationships, organizational methods, and managerial styles.

    + Ability to solve complex problems independently.

    + Ability to manage assigned work with minimum direction.

    + Effective communication skills.

    + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
