    Job Description: Quality Assurance & Materials Testing Technician

     

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Assurance & Materials Testing Technician to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring the integrity of our materials and processes through rigorous testing and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in laboratory procedures, quality control, and materials testing, with a passion for precision and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Government & Compliance Testing

     

    + Conduct drum peel and lap shear tests per government specifications, including machine setup, sample preparation, test execution, and data entry.

    + Perform flame tests, 168-hour tests, and wedge crack evaluations, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.

     

    Environmental Monitoring

     

    + Measure airborne particle counts in lay-up and prime rooms; calculate averages and record results.

    + Monitor and log solution temperatures, water purity, humidity, and pressure differentials across designated areas.

    + Maintain and replace chart recorders in lab and production environments.

     

    Chemical & Solution Analysis

     

    + Analyze aluminum and acid concentrations in deoxidizing and anodizing tanks.

    + Test alkaline cleaner tank concentrations using calibrated pH and aluminum meters.

    + Communicate with PAA operators for necessary adjustments and maintain clean, organized testing areas.

     

    Material Testing & Validation

     

    + Perform comprehensive testing on incoming and revalidated materials to ensure conformance to specifications.

    + Tests include: Visual Inspection, Resin Content, Volatile Content, Gel Time, Flow, Tack, Lap Shear, T-Peel, Thickness, Expansion, Density, Hardness, Compression Strength, Viscosity, and Pot Life.

     

    Material Control

     

    + Track time- and temperature-sensitive materials across multiple locations.

    + Maintain accurate records of expiration dates, shelf life, inventory levels, and usage logs.

     

    Administrative & Support Duties

     

    + Manage lab inventory, order supplies, and maintain equipment.

    + Organize certifications, purchase orders, and test documentation.

    + Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and support continuous improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications

    + Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a science or technology field preferred.

    + Experience: Minimum 1 year in an inspection or quality control environment; 1–3 years of direct composite testing experience preferred.

    + Technical Skills: Familiarity with Epicor ERP, Microsoft Excel, and Word. Strong understanding of lab equipment and testing procedures.

    + Communication: Ability to read and interpret technical documents, write clear reports, and communicate effectively in team settings.

    + Problem-Solving: Capable of working independently, handling multiple variables, and applying common sense to resolve issues.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
