Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description
This position requires the ability to effectively communicate with people at a cross-functional level, presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customers, and the public both orally and in written form. The role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain a supplier quality system that is effective in producing, measuring, and maintaining a reliable supply base.
+ Ensure compliance with procedures outlined in the Supplier Quality Manual such as ISO9001 and IATF16949.
+ Lead supplier development activities and revise and implement changes as required.
+ Participate in supplier reviews and provide input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality.
+ Perform supplier quality audits according to ISO9001, IATF16949, and VDA6 standards.
+ Ensure the reliability and accuracy of products provided by the supply base, and that nonconforming material is dispositioned in a timely manner.
+ Coordinate with suppliers on all initiatives related to supplier quality performance, track performance trends, and perform quality trend analysis from the supplier base, facilitating corrective actions as appropriate.
+ Utilize lean manufacturing, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the supplier base by assisting in the development of robust processes that assure zero defects.
+ Provide support to customers relative to supply-based issues.
Essential Skills
+ Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art quality tools and APQP methods such as FMEA, Control Plan, Measurement Equipment including MSA, and PPAP.
+ Ability to read technical specifications and drawings.
+ Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
+ Ability to facilitate and improve cross-functional communication.
+ Proficiency in using standard business applications software and specialized data analysis tools to establish goals and complete projects.
+ Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification and ISO/IATF auditor certification.
+ 2-5 years of related audit experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Spanish language skills.
+ Experience in Plastic Molding and Assembly processes.
+ Must have an Engineering degree.
+ Experience in the automotive industry.
Work Environment
The engineer will spend the majority of their time on the floor investigating problems, at very least 40% of the time. The investigation and results need to be documented, which will involve desk time. There is a lot of visualization at the plant, with each department having a small 'studio' with poster boards, graphs, charts, etc., documenting their findings and actions. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
