    Jacobs is seeking a Licensed Water Operations Supervisor to join our collaborative team. As the Operations Supervisor you’ll direct and supervise the operations of a water treatment facility. You’ll work with project staff to oversee process control, compliance reporting, and quality control testing as well as ensuring a robust H&S culture. Partnering with other team members and our client you’ll apply knowledge of the principles and methods employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors and related equipment, water process control, permit compliance, and safe work practices. You’ll also monitor, record and operate the water treatment plant and SCADA system; diagnose operating problems and direct effective correction procedures; prepare required reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures; analyze recording instrument readings and laboratory test results and adjust various plant processes accordingly; perform plant inspections to determine efficiency of operations, cleanliness, and maintenance activities including remedial action in emergencies; supervise, evaluate and train employees and perform other duties as required.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide day-to-day leadership of plant operations to ensure the proper, safe and efficient operation of the treatment plant. Informs Project Manager of issues requiring attention

    • Diagnose operating problems and directs effective correction procedures

    • Prepare required reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures

    • Analyze recording instrument readings and laboratory test results and adjusts various plant processes accordingly

    • Inspect plant to determine efficiency of operations, cleanliness, and impact of maintenance activities on operations.

    • Prepare reports and maintains records

    • Operates the plant as required

    • Has primary responsibility for after-hours response to address issues at the treatment plant including treatment failures, mechanical failure of equipment, chemical spills and emergency plant shutdowns

    • Determine remedial action in emergencies

    • Conducts regularly scheduled safety meetings and assists the Project Manager in conducting ongoing safety program

    • Prepare work schedules subject to approval of Project Manager

    • Perform employee evaluations of assigned staff and provides coaching for performance improvement and development

    • Coordinate operational activities with maintenance personnel

    • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work

    • Maintain valid operator licenses required for the position

    • Performs other duties as required

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • California SWRCB T-4 Operator Certificate or equivalent

    • Ability to obtain California SWRCB T-5 Operator Certificate within 18 months

    • Four years of experience in Water Treatment or related field

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

    • Valid State Driver’s License with no major infractions

    Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

    • Knowledge and experience in the principles and practices of water treatment operations; chemical feed systems; general maintenance and operation of lift stations; safe work practices.

    • Experience in Compliance Monitoring and Reporting including preparing and reviewing Monthly Reports

    • Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems.

    • Experience in utilizing CMMS Programs (Maintenance Connect) for preventive and corrective maintenance.

    • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate teams and to respond to emergency situations

    Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

    The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

     

    Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facilities, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, and wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
