Job Description:
The Department of Counseling and Higher Education, in the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education at Ohio University ( OHIO ), invites applications for an 11- month, full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction position with a specialization in School or Clinical Mental Health Counseling starting Spring Semester, January 1, 2026. This is a 100% teaching position with no research or service components.

Responsibilities
+ Fully Remote, 100% online teaching;
+ While the position is 100% online teaching, participation in online departmental meetings is expected as part of collegial engagement.
+ Teaching graduate courses online in School Counseling and the 8 core CACREP content areas;
+ Supervising practicum and internship students online;
+ Participating in program, department, college, and university committee meetings in-person or online;
Minimum Qualifications:
We are interested in collegial candidates who possess excellent communication and people skills, and meet the qualifications listed below:
+ An earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP - accredited program, with a specialization in School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a school-based/children and youth focus;
+ Prior work or internship experience in school counseling or clinical mental health counseling with a school-based or child and adolescent focus;
+ Evidence of successful college teaching experience; experience with electronic distance education/online teaching;
+ Professional identity with the counseling profession through membership in professional counseling organizations such as ASCA and ACA ;
+ License eligible as a school counselor or Clinical Mental Health Counselor in their state of residence;
+ Familiar with school counselor licensure requirements in the state of Ohio;
+ Ability to broaden the diversity of perspectives available to our students within the program through personal practice, teaching philosophy, and service;
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Specialization and licensure in School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling;
+ Familiar with how school systems function and operate.
