Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Description
As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for performing daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, coordinating with financial institutions, and communicating across departments to resolve discrepancies and vendor payment inquiries. You will support capital investment processes by collaborating with project managers to initiate, close, and report on capital projects for senior leadership. Your role will also include executing monthly depreciation runs and calculating quarterly capitalized interest as part of fixed asset accounting duties. Additionally, you will assist with customer insurance documentation by working with third-party providers, provide management with financial analyses related to cash flow and operational reporting, and record various month-end journal entries. Preparing monthly reconciliations for a variety of balance sheet accounts and participating in special projects are also key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
+ Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts.
+ Coordinate with financial institutions and cross-departmental communication to resolve discrepancies.
+ Support capital investment processes by collaborating with project managers.
+ Execute monthly depreciation runs and calculate quarterly capitalized interest.
+ Assist with customer insurance documentation by working with third-party providers.
+ Provide management with financial analyses related to cash flow and operational reporting.
+ Record various month-end journal entries, including payroll, asset transactions, banking activity, and tax-related entries.
+ Prepare monthly reconciliations for a variety of balance sheet accounts.
+ Participate in special projects and assignments as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in accounting, general ledger, month-end processes, and journal entries.
+ Experience with fixed assets and large ERP systems.
+ Strong Excel skills, especially in financial modeling and analytical techniques.
+ 4-year degree in accounting.
+ 3+ years of accounting experience.
+ Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Excellent communication skills and confidence in stating professional opinions.
+ In-depth understanding of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Professional accounting designation preferred (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CMT).
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment with the opportunity to work Monday through Thursday in the office and from home on Fridays. The corporate headquarters provides a nice office setting. You will be part of a great team in an engaging office environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, Missouri.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
