Join our **Strategic Planning and Architecture** (SPARC) team within Microsoft’s Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure (AHSI) organization and be a part of the organization behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission.
Microsoft delivers more than 200 online services to more than one billion individuals worldwide and AHSI is the team behind our expanding cloud infrastructure. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's cloud businesses including Microsoft Azure, Bing, MSN, Office 365, OneDrive, Skype, Teams and Xbox Live.
The SPARC organization manages Azure’s hardware roadmap from architecture concept through production for all of Microsoft’s current and future on-line services. You will be involved with all phases of product development, from design through manufacturing and supply chain, and into high scale deployment. You’ll work closely with our engineers and architects, and also our peer teams (including Azure Core, Azure Security, and SCHIE) to plan and deliver solutions into the fleet leveraging well-known processes we’ve used to deliver new capabilities into Azure.
We are looking for a **Principal Program Manager** to join our team
Responsibilities
+ Feature / Capabilities Planning: Understanding use cases for key Microsoft cloud services that require improved Security capabilities, and together with our architects mapping the services’ requirements to technical capabilities of underlying platform components.
+ Hardware Planning– practices, processes, and methodologies. e. coalesce the team to successful milestone check-ins and results delivery throughout the Incubation / Innovation lifecycle.
+ Coordinating and preparing milestone reviews, customer/partner/vendor presentations, and other key meetings. Maintaining relationships with peers inside and outside the team to ensure cross-group collaboration and connection with the CSI organization. cross-group collaboration is a must, as you’ll be the focal point for keeping engagements on-track with peer teams like Azure Compute, etc.
+ Driving creation and monitoring of success criteria including performance, throughput, etc. and collaborating with our peer workload teams to monitor and ensure that the necessary metrics are deeply understood and available to help drive decision making.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
+ 5+ years of experience with compute architecture and hardware/software networking technologies, including datacenter networking and network offloads.
+ 5+ years of experience with datacenter networking technologies, such as:
+ 802.3 Ethernet and datacenter-specific Ethernet modifications
+ Infiniband, RDMA, and related technologies
+ 5+ years of experience with network protocols, switching, and routing.
**O** **ther Requirements** :
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening reqirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
+ Communication skills, including the ability to build compelling internal/external presentations and technology-focused whitepapers, and comprehensive business review materials as well as the ability to translate abstract thoughts, key themes and tactics into understandable messages for broad consumption.
+ Demonstrable knowledge and depth of security concepts, especially those pertaining to Cloud / Server architectures and business models.
+ Demonstrated excellent analytical, problem resolution and decision-making skills.
+ Superior judgment, team building, and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure required.
+ Proven experience in effective cross group, cross company, and cross industry collaboration.
+ Personal maturity, i.e. lives and models Microsoft values.
+ Adaptability, flexibility and the ability to deal with ambiguity associated with working in a fast paced and changing environment with a highly organized, process-focused aptitude.
+ Demonstrated problem solving and negotiating skills; the ability to deal with conflict and multiple constituencies and manage multiple simultaneous objectives is imperative.
+ Must be conversant in software and hardware architectures. Includes knowledge of the component technologies (networking, silicon, storage, memory, etc.) in the hardware industry.
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
