About this Job

Our mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of maintenance services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion.

Join the State ofLouisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a role as a Maintenance Repairer 2that performs journeyman-level work with excellence and genuine care for those who served. You'll maintain the facility that services over 150 veterans.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

+ Works in the maintenance department, includes performs daily maintenance tasks such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical work.

+ Discuss evaluations and performance, provide by the Facility Maintenance Manager A, which he recommends disciplinary actions when needed, and conflict resolution.

+ Assure Quality Assurance through audits and staff in-services, aiding in improvement in the maintenance department and adherence to policy and procedure standards.

+ Reports resident complaints and incidents, collaborating with Facility Maintenance Manager A to ensure all complaints and incidents are properly handled.

+ Safety, maintain a safe, clean and effective work environment for residents and employees.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational

Compensation: $1,573.60 bi/weekly - $19.67/hour; Retention pays: $3.00/hr. - work hours only

On Call Pay: $2.00/HR - Worked Hours Only

Work Schedule: Hours are from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to include possibly some emergency weekends and holidays.
