    ABOUT PILLAR CARE CONTINUUM

    Pillar Care Continuum is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence and participation in the community. Founded in 1953 to meet the needs of children with cerebral palsy and their families, Pillar Care has steadily grown and now delivers life-affirming services to infants, children, adults and their families throughout northern New Jersey through 27 program locations. Pillar Care provides specialized programs to meet a wide range of educational, therapeutic, and social needs of people with various disabilities. The agency serves over 1,650 families each year and employs 700 full- and part-time employees.

    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

    The HR Assistant is a temporary contracted role for three (3) months, providing critical administrative support to the HR team in preparation for the agency-wide annual external audit. This position is ideal for candidates seeking hands-on experience in HR operations, compliance, and document management within a mission-driven organization.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Personnel File Management:

    + Create, file, scan, extract and organize all personnel files agency-wide, maintaining both digital and paper systems per program.

    + Ensure files and records are compliant with state agency audits and organizational standards.

    HRIS & Data Entry:

    + Serve as backup for accurate input and updates in the HR information system.

    Audit & Compliance Support:

    + Prepare, review, and audit internal files, forms, and collaterals required for internal and external audits.

    + Support onboarding, compliance, and internal review processes.

    Reporting & Presentations:

    + Prepare HR presentation materials and reports as needed.

    Team Collaboration:

    + Work closely with HR colleagues to address administrative needs and support HR operations.

    Confidentiality & Documentation:

    + Monitor and maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

    + Ensure timely completion of HR documentation and reporting.

    Other Duties:

    + Perform additional tasks assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree (or undergraduate coursework) in business, HR, or related field.

    + 1–2 years’ experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Assistant, or similar administrative role.

    + Strong proficiency in document management (Adobe Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and HRIS systems.

    + Knowledge of HR processes, compliance standards, and best practices.

    + Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.

    + Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.

    + High level of confidentiality and professionalism.

    + Demonstrated commitment to Pillar Care Continuum’s Culture of Excellence and values.

    Pre-Employment Requirements

    + Successful completion of a criminal background check and clearance from the Department of Human Services.

    + Consent to checks against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

    + Drug testing prior to start date.

    + Application for name check against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI).

    COMPENSATION

    Hourly Rate: $ 20-$22

     

    Pillar Care takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s work experience and qualification as well as the scope of the role, complexity and external market and internal market value when determining salary level.
