    TheIowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)is seeking anInventory Managerto join the Transformation and IT Strategy team within the Division of Compliance and Administration!

     

    This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team that supports the systems and services helping Iowans live safe, healthy, and productive lives.

    The Position

    As anInventory Manager, you’ll lead the full lifecycle of hardware and software asset management for HHS. You’ll ensure that every technology resource — from acquisition to retirement — is effectively tracked, maintained, and optimized for agency operations.

     

    This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable collaborating across multiple teams and leadership levels. The right candidate will combine analytical thinking with practical problem-solving and a commitment to operational excellence.

     

    What You’ll Do

     

    In this role, you’ll help ensure that HHS has the technology tools it needs to support our mission to effectively and efficiently serve Iowans every day.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    + Building and managing business processes for the identification, purchase, receipt, deployment, storage, and monitoring of HHS hardware and software assets.

    + Serving as the main point of contact for HHS leadership and end users to troubleshoot and resolve challenges across the asset management lifecycle.

    + Partnering with DOM DoIT and HHS business units to ensure smooth integration of IT systems and business operations.

    + Overseeing purchasing functions, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with HHS and state finance requirements.

    + Coordinating with DoIT and HelpDesk Support teams to ensure consistent deployment and re-deployment of agency assets.

    + Managing warranty and license renewals, proactively planning for asset replacements.

    + Overseeing secure storage and tracking of HHS hardware inventory.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

    1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and two years of full-time work experience in project management; management analysis; data science; business systems analysis; or professional-level program administration, development, or operations.

    2) All of the following (a and b):

    a. Two years of full-time work experience in project management; management analysis; data science; business systems analysis; or professional-level program administration, development, or operations; and

    b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

    3) All of the following (a and b):

    a. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in project management; management analysis; data science; business systems analysis; or professional-level program administration, development, or operations, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and

    b. A total of two years of graduate-level education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in business administration, industrial management, statistics, natural science, or a closely-related field equals one year of full-time experience.

     

    4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Management Analyst 1.
