Job Description
Join our team as a Statistical Research Analyst 2 and become a critical driver of data integrity and decision-making for our agency. You won't just analyze data—you will transform it into strategic insights that shape our operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
The core function of this role centers around the dissemination of data and the development of deliverables. You will:
* Complete data entry and validation actions
* Execute data retrieval and reporting by running queries and supplying data to all levels of stakeholders.
* Report observable data trends, report on this trend information, and examine its impact on operational outcomes.
* Measure and Track Performance through examining and reporting data trends to determine if the agency is meeting various operational goals.
* Prepare essential documents, leading presentations, and assisting in reporting alignment across teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will have a strong background in using data to construct reportable, consumable, and actionable information.
Candidates must demonstrate:
* Strong organizational and documentation skills.
* The ability to communicate complex data findings clearly to diverse audiences.
* Proven proficiency in preparing a variety of data reports.
Work Arrangement:
This role supports a flexible schedule with remote work capabilities, but it will necessitate some required on-site work in Des Moines, Iowa.
Percentage of Time Duty
75% - Data Quality, Integrity, and Awareness
Utilize the ICON Help Desk to address and resolve ICON Help Desk tickets
which include both data provision and validation.
* Scheduled Exception Reports (daily, monthly, etc.)
* Monday Reports (Prison & BOP)
Run queries and provide data to internal and external entities assisting in the compilation, review, and dissemination of advanced statistical data.
* ODCP Report
* DOM KPI’s, Strategic Plan Metrics, and Operational Plan support.
Create, maintain, validate, and ensure accuracy of content in advanced statistical reports, collateral materials, and websites.
* Iowa Open Data - if by the time DOM has transitioned and the datasets still require a monthly upload from the JDW
Contribute to research efforts that explore evidence-based practices, which could inform the development or refinement of business rules. (NEW)
15% - Impact Statements and Special Research/Analysis (NEW)
Work with correctional data to analyze trends, impacts, and outcomes - focusing on how laws, policies or programs affect correctional populations and
different minority groups.
10% - Support & Content Development
Attend statewide agency meetings and events to ensure reporting procedures align with current business practices.
Assist in the facilitation of meetings between the research team and internal and external providers.
This may include preparation of draft documents, handouts, data briefs, and/or presentations for meetings and conferences.
Essential Function:
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, annual statistical reports for agency
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Attend virtual and in-person meetings
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
+ Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, political science, or public administration and experience equal to two years of full-time work in statistical analysis or economic research.
+ A total of six years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where one year of full-time experience equals 30 semester hours of education (maximum substitution of four years).
+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, economics, public policy, public affairs, public administration, or business analytics.
+ Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of fulltime work as a Statistical Research Analyst 1.
