    If you have a bachelor’s degree and at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics, have you considered a career as a Financial Analyst?     This position is responsible for the critical daily cash analysis for the holdings of the State of Michigan Retirement System’s (SMRS) investment portfolios as well as Trust and Agency fund’s portfolios, which have an aggregate market value of approximately $115 billion. The position is responsible for valuating and adjusting financial statements using various accounting standards and in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Standards. The position is responsible for developing, revising and implementing procedures in accordance with accounting principles, industry standards, and the Bureau of Investments’ policies and procedures.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education

    Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.

    One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9.

     

    Financial Analyst P11

     

    Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10.

     

    Alternate Education and Experience

     

    College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

    Remote Work: This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week. The selected candidate must have a secure, safe and appropriate designated workspace that allows privacy and prevents distractions to perform the duties of this position.
