We are searching for a driven Mobility Engineering Lead who will be responsible for the successful development, integration, and test validation of subsystems such as: diesel engine, transmission, final drive, exhaust, air filtration, cooling system components, track system, driver s controls and suspension.
What You Will Do
The Mobility Engineering Lead will manage a team of designers and engineers to solve production & test issues including Engineering Support In Production (ESIP), investigate test incident reports (TIR), close Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Reports (FACARs), track production part procurement, audit production work instructions for accuracy & completeness, research Vendor Information Requests (VIR), process Technical Data Package (TDP) changes, track co-user parts, coordinate across programs for common part update and synchronize software updates with vendors & other programs.
The Mobility Engineering Lead will be able to analyze and interpret incomplete information. Apply root cause methods and tools to define problem. Adapt problem-solving approaches to variable situations.
The Mobility Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading a team supplying onsite support at BAE Systems production and US Government test sites. This will require the Mobility Engineering Lead to travel to these sites at times.
The Mobility Engineering Lead will be responsible for support of the First Article Test (FAT) including reports for the Test Readiness Review, Test Plan and Test Report. The Mobility IPT lead will provide subject matter expertise to the Logistics team for technical manual review, specialty tool review and level of repair analysis.
Various other responsibilities will include:
- Manage engineering design, development, analysis, test, and/or product assurance of all assigned projects to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.
- Develop, implement, and manage project plans to include detailed task definition, resource requirements, schedule, quality, and cost parameters. Assess project risk areas and develops risk mitigation plans. Prepare, monitor, and control budgets and schedules, reporting on technical, cost, and schedule status.
- Resolves conflicts between individual subsystems or disciplines to the benefit of system performance, quality, and reliability.
- Coordinating and leading the efforts of approximately 2-10 other engineers, design staff, and analysts.
- Tracking risks and opportunities.
- Preparing and presenting project technical results and recommendations to customers.
- Leads technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve complex engineering problems, using specialized equipment, or by creating computer programs, models, or simulations.
- Prepares technical and cost portions of proposals related to area of expertise.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. Advises senior management on new developments and programs.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor s degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 6 years relevant experience; or a Master s degree and 4 years relevant experience, or a PhD and 2 years of experience.
- Experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience in the design and integration of mobility systems such as diesel engines, transmissions, final drives, driveline hardware, exhaust, air filtration, cooling system components, hydrostatic drives, tracks, and suspension.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with customers and suppliers.
- Ability to review, interpret, and direct mobility or automotive type performance analysis.
- Ability to identify, define, interpret, and resolve engineering problems involving conflicting design/contractual/policy or technical requirements across functional areas.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations and deliver them in written and oral form to customers, industry leaders, and senior management.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with design of combat vehicles.
- Basic working knowledge of the CREO CAD software tool.
- Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) experience.
- Prior experience resolving complex inter-subsystem production issues.
- Working knowledge of relevant military and commercial design and drawing standards.
- Prior experience with automotive or military cooling system analysis and sizing is a plus.
- Prior experience leading complex structured trade studies for Mobility components such diesel engines, transmissions, final drives, driveline hardware, exhaust, air filtration, cooling system components, hydrostatic drives, track systems, and suspension components a plus.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115779 - $196825
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
