Description
Do you want to work in a dynamic team environment where you can make a difference in the community by leveraging technology that will effectively serve internal and external customers? If so, the City of Harrisonburg's Technology Support Specialist I position may be a great opportunity for you!
The Technology Support Specialist I is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $21.91 - $24.10 per hour (equivalent to $45,572 - $50,128 annually); however, an exact salary will be determined based upon the selected candidate's qualifications and in compliance with City Policy. You're the ideal candidate for this position if you have a desire to provide guidance and support in the installation, operation, and maintenance of various types of information/communications technology.
As a Technology Support Specialist, you'll:
+ Install and troubleshoot workstations, printers, mobile devices, VOIP phones, AV equipment, and other similar equipment;
+ Replace defective parts and repair and clean equipment and components, as needed;
+ Perform general preventative maintenance, as needed;
+ Install operating systems and application software;
+ Install network wiring, as needed;
+ Assist users in the effective use of applications by responding to user questions;
+ Attend training, seminars, and conferences to maintain/enhance current subject matter knowledge;
+ Participate in on-call status when response to off-hours situations is needed.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate's/Technical degree or appropriate certification in information systems/technology, math, or a related field and minimal experience troubleshooting personal computers and networks. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
+ Valid driver's license.
+ Availability and willingness to participate in on-call status when response to off-hours situations is needed.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
+ DMV Driving Record Review;
+ Criminal Background Investigation;
+ Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) Screenings: Fingerprinting, VCIN Database Query, and Security Test.*
*Due to the sensitive nature of information available through the performance of this position's essential functions, the successful applicant selected for the role will be required to submit to these screenings required by the Virginia Criminal Information Network. At a later date, more information will be provided to the candidate selected.
