    SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the SVP Commercial Lending Team Leader , the Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager will be responsible for supporting the Commercial Lending Team to achieve the desired commercial loan portfolio management, and loan origination and deposit growth objectives. R esponsibilities include the management of selected new and existing relationships in the Bank’s commercial lending portfolio (new loan requests, renewal requests, coordinating annual reviews, and workout strategies, serving as a point of contact for assigned relationships, driving loan and deposit growth consistent with the Bank’s strategic plan, assisting with underwriting those opportunities, and securing business banking service and product sales.

     

    Will work effectively as needed with key representatives from commercial lending and other areas of the Bank to send and accept referrals through joint sales calls as needed and will troubleshoot problems which may arise for both internal and external customers, maintaining ownership throughout the resolution process.

     

    This position works to ensure efficient loan application, structuring, underwriting, and closing as well as a user-friendly deposit account opening and servicing process while complying with all relevant regulatory requirements. Together with Commercial Lender(s), the incumbent will create and maintain close relationships with all parties involved in commercial transactions through the life cycle. Additionally, this position embraces the established sales and service culture to maximize their contribution to the Bank’s goals.

     

    After successful completion of training and proven abilities, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with an agreed upon number of days per-week/month on site.

     

    + Consistent availability is expected during core business hours. Work outside of regular business hours requires approval on an as needed basis to meet deadlines and fulfil the needs of both internal and external customers.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In the performance of respective tasks and duties, the employee is expected to successfully perform quality work within deadlines with or without supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers; work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments and work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

     

    + Responsible for the evaluation and assistance with underwriting of Commercial loans and small business loans to determine credit worthiness and compliance with lending policies.

    + Contribute to meeting and/or exceeding the assigned volume/production goals of the account officers within the markets they service.

    + Effectively communicates and acts as a liaison to internal customers to resolve business lending issues.

    + Review and analyze business and personal financial data to determine the merits of the loan request.

    + Works directly with Lenders and other team members to effectively grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue.

    + Deliver spreadsheets, reports, summaries and issue opinions and recommendations to loan officers, credit officers or approving body to be utilized in credit decisions on new, renewal and existing loans.

    + Perform company and industry research as needed. Perform online research of public records including, but not limited to, assessors’ databases, county register’s databases, Secretary of State database for corporate filings and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings.

    + Assists with organizing workflow for designated group and coordinates the successful completion of projects as assigned.

    + Periodically may participate in market visits or client calls as necessary.

    + Contact Commercial Loan Officers, as appropriate, for additional information and details related to loan requests or clarification of financial materials and resources.

    + Collaborate with team members by providing credit alternatives and creative ways to structure credits ensuring that transactions are within portfolio risk standards.

    + Maintains up-to-date knowledge on all Bank lending policies and regulations. Confers with the Credit Team and appropriate Bank personnel regarding new/existing lending requirements and regulations.

    + Identify areas of concern pertaining to a loan and discuss with Lender or SVP, Commercial Lending Team Leader, as applicable.

    + Maintains a proactive commitment to established bank programs, such as Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and Affirmative Action.

    + Participate in team sales meetings.

    General:

    + Effectively use tools and systems to be able to self-manage, organize, and complete work independently, proactively recognizing potential obstacles and resolving them before they become an issue, managing to deadlines, and creating action plans when not on track..

    + Adhere to all company policies and act as a role model in the application of policies, consistently demonstrating our core values and service standards.

    + In the performance of respective tasks and duties, the employee is expected to maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with all applicable regulatory standards, requirements and policies as well as attending all required training sessions and completing all required on-line training courses.

    + Regular and consistent attendance is required to continue the high standard of customer service as well as occasionally participating in before/after hours and/or weekend community events.

    + Other duties as assigned, performing similar or related work as directed, required, or as situation dictates.

    LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    + Interacts independently with members of the community and along all staffing levels with complex and proprietary information.

    + Work is non-routine and is relied upon to influence as a subject matter expert with internal and external customers.

    + Participates in executing the department’s goals to meet the bank’s overall strategic plan and create a competitive position within the financial services industry.

    + Position has an impact on the revenue of the institution.

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Accounting/Finance; MBA preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Typically, 3-5 years of Commercial Lending or related experience with an emphasis on C & I Lending, CRE, and construction loans. Experience in Credit Analysis is preferred.

    + Broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in business banking and relationship sales.

    + Solid background in financial institution operating policies and procedures, banking regulations (state and federal).

    + Ability to complete accurate complex financial and other analysis is preferred.

    + Sageworks (or similar) statement spreading software experience.

    + Salesforce experience is preferred

    + Knowledge of standard legal and related documents for a variety of commercial loan types.

    + Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite products including, but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint.

    + Solid understanding and application of administration activities with an understanding of office procedures and ability to operate standard office equipment.

    + Means and mode to travel to any of Main Street Bank’s locations and/or customers as needed on a regular basis.

    + Smart Phone - To enable the MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) facilitating access to MSB systems .

    HYBRID/REMOTE ENVIRONMENT:

    + Your physical remote location must provide a dedicated workspace that is free from distraction and provides adequate light to be regularly visible on video calls.

    + You must have access to a reliable internet connection with adequate bandwidth to join Teams and other video calls.
