Position Summary
The Department of Geography at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor in the area of Human-Environment Interactions. We welcome applicants whose expertise lies in any area related to GIS and/or remote sensing applications of human-environment interactions, including but not limited to climate, water, natural resources, ecosystems, energy, and agriculture. The successful candidate is expected to develop and sustain an active research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, teach introductory courses, develop curricula in human environment interactions, and contribute to departmental service and community engagement.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Ph.D. in Geography or closely related field by August 17, 2026
+ Demonstrated expertise in an area of applied environmental geography with a human dimension
+ Demonstrated expertise in GIS and/or Remote Sensing research
Preferred Qualifications
+ Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
+ Demonstrated success in acquiring external funding to support research activities
+ Experience with community partner engagement
