Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Develops and/or leads teams in studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects. Acts as recognized technical authority in a specialized engineering area. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
There are 2 positions available. Based on the candidate’s interest and experience this posting will fill a role in one of the following positions listed below.
+ **_Transmission & Substation Equipment Engineering_** **(transformer, circuit breaker, and/ or switchgear subject matter expert (SME) functions)**
+ **_Transmission & Substation Projects, Large Load, and Conceptual Engineering_**
+ Performs consultation and training on highly complex and unique technical areas requiring the application of advanced engineering principles. (25%)
+ Evaluates complex technical issues that require highly specialized knowledge in very specific areas and recommends actions or programs for their resolution. (25%)
+ Leads the implementation of large specialized technical projects and/or teams in order to develop studies, proposals and designs while considering cost effectiveness. (25%)
+ Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in area of company interest. (10%)
+ Participates in department planning, provide budget recommendations and monitor performance for the accomplishment of committed results. (10%)
+ Acts as an expert witness and provide expert opinions for regulatory and/or legal proceedings. (5%)

T&S Equipment Engineering
+ Support reliability and performance of the electric grid by managing a wide range of substation assets.
+ Provide technical support for substation equipment.
+ Develop substation equipment specifications.
T&S** **Projects, Large Load, and Conceptual Engineering
+ Lead Project Diagram preparation & issue for T&S System Performance work
+ Support Project Diagram preparation by Transmission Planning, Distribution Capacity Planning, and T&S New Business
+ Lead engineering teams in development of Feasibility Studies for major T&S projects
+ Provide T&S Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) functions, in collaboration with other T&S Engineering LREs and SMEs as well as external engineering team members, on major projects
+ Be a T&S Standards advocate by implementing designs utilizing up-to-date standards
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Master of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
+ Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
+ Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
+ Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
+ 8+ years of experience in specific areas of engineering and recognized industry expert (Requirement reduced by one year for Licensed Professional Engineer)
+ Advanced knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles.
+ Advanced knowledge of latest technologies necessary to perform a variety of specialized unique or complex assignments for various installation types of services.
+ Industry expert who participates or leads industry committee or working groups or has published technical documents
+ Note: there are a limited number of personnel available in the industry with the required knowledge, ability and experience. License must be issued by the state in which you are practicing
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
T&S Equipment Engineering
+ Industry expert and substantial technical knowledge of electrical substation equipment, including but not limited to, transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnect switches, and/or instrument transformers.
+ Experience assessing, troubleshooting, and recommending solutions for issues with electrical equipment to assist maintenance personnel.
+ Experience developing substation equipment specifications and visiting vendor facilities to ensure manufactured equipment meets expectations.
+ Experience writing technical procedures and whitepapers.
+ Active involvement in industry committees and engagements.
+ Extensive experience working on project teams in a technical role.
+ Knowledge and ability to enhance substation maintenance programs to improve system reliability in a cost-effective manner.
+ Familiarity with equipment databases such as Cascade
T&S Projects, Large Load, and Conceptual Engineering
+ Experience providing technical ownership, project team oversight, and quality assurance for implementation of Transmission and Substation engineering functions on System Performance Projects, PJM RTEP / Supplemental, and Large Load
+ Technical knowledge of electrical substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnect switches, instrument transformers, batteries, and GIS; building enclosures; and underground & overhead transmission equipment & structures
+ Technical knowledge of protection & control system applications and communication infrastructure
+ Experience with initiating and evaluating engineering studies such as geotechnical, grounding, drainage, lightning, AC/DC loading, fire protection, yard lighting
+ Familiarity with facility ratings databases such as LOAD
+ Familiarity with equipment databases such as Cascade
+ Proficiency with laying out substation arrangements and allowing for future capacity expansion, in both brownfield and greenfield applications
+ Experience with understanding transmission system outage requirements, electrical switching and blocking, and interfacing with generation and customer facilities and equipment

+ Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $120,000.00/Yr. – $165,000.00/Yr.
