Job Summary and Qualifications

An Anesthesia/Pharmacy Technician is that individual who, under the supervision of the OR Clinical Coordinator and in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacy Technician and/or Licensed Pharmacist, assists in the various activities of the OR and pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. The role of OR Anesthesia Pharmacy Technician is limited specifically to pharmacy related functions that occur in the OR suites and other associated areas including, but not limited to, Endoscopy, Day Surgery and OR East. Such duties include, but need not be limited to: acting as a liaison between pharmacy, OR staff, and anesthesia staff; set up, packaging, and labeling medication doses; filling and dispensing routine orders for stock supplies; refilling, inventorying, and outdating automated dispensing machines, maintaining inventories of medication supplies. Technicians must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist.

+ Changes anesthesia circuits, suction tubing, and canisters between cases.

+ Cleans anesthesia machines and keeps them properly stocked.

+ Cleans and stocks all anesthesia equipment carts.

+ Moves special monitoring equipment to the necessary operating rooms as needed.

+ Maintains infusion pumps.

What qualifications you will need:

+ (PharmTech) Pharmacy Technician License

+ High School Graduate / GED

+ BLS – American Heart – required at time of hire
