**Job Title:** Production Supervisor
**Pay Range:** $70,000 - $90,000
Our client, a leading organization in the food manufacturing industry, is seeking a Processing Supervisor to join their team. As a Production/ Processing Supervisor, you will be part of the Operations Department supporting production and quality assurance teams. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully in the organization.
What's the Job?
+ **Position Summary: Processing Supervisor** Accountable for planning and scheduling activities for labor, supplies, production, and equipment to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and to achieve safety, quality, value, and cost (S, Q, V, C) goals for the assigned shift. The supervisor is primarily focused on daily operations to ensure the department runs efficiently and upholds the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and quality.
Role Accountabilities:
Process:
+ Coordinate resources and oversee execution of work area objectives.
+ Manage daily personnel assignments on processing lines; adjust staffing based on production needs.
+ Troubleshoot processing equipment with the team; identify and resolve issues.
+ Coordinate packaging supply requirements with the warehouse.
+ Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations.
+ Support execution of capital projects and facility improvements.
People:
+ Train and educate employees in safety, quality, value, and cost (S, Q, V, C) principles.
+ Plan and schedule workforce to meet production requirements.
+ Communicate daily with the Scheduling Supervisor regarding production line status and future needs.
+ Support employee development through training and performance management.
+ Assist in standard operating line adjustments and troubleshooting (e.g., code dates, glue and rail adjustments, changeovers).
+ Address HR and labor issues; maintain positive relations with bargaining unit employees.
Financial:
+ Assign labor accurately in time and attendance systems with correct cost center allocation.
+ Provide input for annual operating budget.
+ Manage labor, overtime, and material usage to meet budget standards.
+ Track and explain budget variances; recommend corrective actions.
Strategic:
+ Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
+ Monitor results and ensure alignment with department goals.
+ Analyze equipment, process, and performance trends across shifts.
+ Implement actions to improve productivity, safety, and efficiency.
Education & Experience:
+ High school diploma required; equivalent related experience accepted.
+ College degree preferred, especially in industrial, mechanical or process engineering, food science, or management.
+ Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a food or manufacturing environment.
+ Experience with quality control and compliance procedures is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
+ Technical expertise in manufacturing operations.
+ Ability to perform and troubleshoot all supervised equipment and processes.
+ Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
+ Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
+ Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
+ Skilled in preparing reports and interpreting operational data.
+ Basic math and statistical analysis skills.
+ Green Belt certification (or ability to obtain).
+ Familiarity with company software systems and automated production technologies.
+ Proper use and care of personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Ability to respond to emergency call-outs as needed.
