    Our client, an innovative organization in the agricultural research sector, is seeking a Greenhouse Technician (Weekends) to join their team. As a Greenhouse Technician, you will be part of the Controlled Environments Team supporting the advancement of sustainable agriculture. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, a passion for learning, strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining a professional and safe work environment, which will align successfully within the organization.

     

    **Job Title:** Greenhouse Technician (Weekend Shift)

    **Location:** Johnston, IA

    **Pay Rate:** $26.00/hour

    **Shift:** Wednesday to Sunday or Saturday to Wednesday, 7:30AM - 4:00PM

     

    What's the Job?

     

    + Assist with routine greenhouse duties including seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting, and tissue sampling for various crops such as corn, soybean, wheat, and canola.

    + Support experimental procedures by collecting and preparing plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper identification and storage.

    + Maintain comprehensive records of activities and data collection to support ongoing research projects.

    + Perform sanitation tasks and manage waste disposal in accordance with safety protocols to ensure a clean and compliant environment.

     

    What's Needed?

     

    + High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience or a degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related fields preferred.

    + Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and ergonomic guidelines.

    + Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    + Basic proficiency in MS Office applications and the ability to learn proprietary research software.

    + Physical ability to stand and sit for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs., and perform repetitive tasks in a warm, humid greenhouse environment.
