    The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis invites applicants with years of relevant work experience as an experienced Software Engineer to join our Treasury Retail Investor Management (TRIM) Technology Division in Minneapolis. This position requires a regular on-site presence.

     

    Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien with at least three (3) years of legal residency.

    _There is one vacancy, the position may be filled at the Experienced, Senior or the Advanced level._ To be considered at either of the three levels, you must meet the required relevant technology and years of experience-

     

    + Experience in AWS

    + Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and CDK)

    + Experience in configuring and deploying multiple deployments through GitLab.

    + Experience with Typescript, Cypress, and unit testing.

    + Dependency management in distributed codebase (i.e., microservices) with dozens of repositories, especially in the Node/Typescript ecosystem. Artifactory, etc.

    + Everything as code – aptitude / instinct for avoiding ClickOps

    + Docker / containerized solutions

    + Serverless patterns and solutions

    Education and Experience at the Experienced Engineer Level:

    + Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant information technology experience.

    Job Responsibilities at the Experienced Engineer Level:

    + Work under moderate guidance and contributes to defining and documenting set up and maintenance procedures and processes for technology systems in partnership with System IT.

    + Provide technology functionality support, including preventative maintenance and responding to security vulnerabilities.

    + Implement platform and system access in accordance with Bank security policies.

    + Perform moderately complex diagnostic and environmental testing.

    + Perform MAC’s (moves, adds and changes) related to the technology environment.

    + Interact with Vendors as necessary to maintain technology components and environments.

    + Recommend system maintenance tools that automate processes to enable greater scale and speed.

    + May require skills in the following areas: Windows Endpoint OS, Mac OS, Jamf, AirWatch, FileNet, Active Nav, Windows Server OS, Linux, Cisco, Avaya, Dynatrace Monitoring Tool, SAFR, FISMA, Tableau, Aternity, Telecom, Analog and Digital cabling, Mobile devices, Apple iOS, SCCM, Unified Communications Platforms (Cisco UCM, Webex, MS Teams, Zoom).

    + May require scripting experiences with the following languages: PERL, Python, PowerShell, Shell, or other tools such as Terraform/Cloud Formation or Ansible/Chef/Puppet, or Crestron SIMPL.

    + Participate in groups/committees related to processes, standards, and best practices.

    + Participate in an Agile development or DevSecOps environment where applicable.

    + Provides rotating 24 by 7 on-call administration and support.

    + Document procedures and maintain process guidelines for supported technology systems.

    + Demonstrate basic technical knowledge of more than one integration discipline within IT.

    + May provide input to technology architecture, design, development, or deployment.

    + May provide support of the organization's cloud strategy from a technical perspective, including design, planning, integration, maintenance, and support of cloud architecture and SaaS products.

    + Work under general direction, making decisions with limited guidance and instructions, seeking assistance as indicated.

    Education and Experience at the Senior Engineer Level:

    + Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with 2 to 3 technology platforms.

    Job Responsibilities as a Senior Engineer:

    + Work independently, under minimal guidance to design and document set up and maintenance procedures and processes for technology systems in partnership with System IT.

    + Provide technology functionality support including preventative maintenance and responding to security vulnerabilities.

    + Recommend platform and system access in accordance with Bank security policies.

    + Perform complex diagnostic and environmental testing.

    Job Responsibilities at an Advanced Engineer Level:

    + Provide leadership, mentoring, and team management by directing the work of and setting technical direction for other team members in an open, positive, and collaborative manner.

    + Bring an Agile mindset: take initiative and ownership of projects and demonstrate collaboration and teamwork.

    + Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommend process, product or service improvements.

    + Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives by ensuring the team follows the appropriate software/system development life cycle methodology.

    + Lead technology initiative projects of the highest complexity, which includes new application development, commercial off the shelf (COTS) solutions, cloud solutions, and other automation efforts.

    + Direct technical staff in the standardization of coding practices and processes.

    + Ensure that the team’s technology solutions provide highest level of application performance and security, maintains application code per prescribed standards and process and complies with all applicable application design and development processes.

    + Mentor and provide technical training, information, and technical expertise to other automation and business area staff and management as necessary.

    + Champion technology across the district and the greater Federal Reserve System.

    + Lead the design, development, and implementation of new products, processes, patterns, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.

    + Manage the implementation of cloud services and integration with in-house applications and systems.

    + Provide expertise in complex and diverse technologies and support multiple projects, business lines and platforms.

    + Work on the most unique complex projects and problems with the broadest impact on the business.

    + Research, evaluate, and recommend application design and architecture, identify ways to reuse existing application components and designs prototypes using current or emerging technologies.

    + Collaborate with and mentors other team members on new technology development efforts to achieve desired results.

    + Provide planning, estimation, and management of projects using established methodologies and practices.

    + Collaborate with business areas to identify and conceptualize new application solutions, recommends technologies and strategies, designs, builds (develop) or integrates and implements technology solutions to meet business requirements.

    + Develop and present technical information and expertise to business areas, IT staff, and management as necessary.

    Additional Information:

    The full salary range for the three levels of engineer are as follows

    **Experienced Engineer:** $86,100 - $107,656 - $129,200

    **Senior Engineer:** $105,400 - $131,712 - $158,100

    **Advanced Engineer:** $121,700 - $152,132 - $182,600
