Join the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation as the visionary Park Manager 3 for Lake Cascade State Park in Cascade, ID!
Nestled approximately 75 miles north of Boise, Lake Cascade State Park is an expansive and diverse recreational haven, featuring 86 miles of stunning shoreline and covering 26,307 surface acres at full capacity. As the Park Manager, you will oversee the management of this sprawling park complex, which operates in partnership with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and consists of 17 distinct units, each offering unique experiences for visitors.
Lake Cascade State Park offers a wide range of outdoor recreation. Visitors can enjoy 272 developed tent and RV sites across 12 campgrounds, plus a dispersed camping area, a tent-specific area, group yurts at Osprey Point for up to 30 people, and a group site at Snowbank for up to 75 people, with reservations available for most group sites and nine campgrounds. The park’s six day-use areas provide ample space for picnicking, lake access, and two picnic shelters for gatherings. Lake Cascade is also a hub for water recreation, featuring boating, windsurfing, sailing, and fishing, supported by six shoreline units with boat ramps and handling docks. In winter, the park transforms into a snowy playground with groomed cross-country ski trails and a frozen lake ideal for ice fishing and snowmobiling.
As Park Manager 3, you will lead the management and operations of Lake Cascade State Park. Your leadership will be critical in preserving the park’s natural beauty while enhancing the visitor experience.
You will oversee a team of six employees that includes four Park Rangers, one Administrative Assistant, and one Assistant Manager. Because the park covers a large geographic area and it can take up to 45 minutes to travel from the main reporting location to some campgrounds, strong people management skills and the ability to lead a distributed team you may not see in person every day are essential for success.
Equally important is the ability to foster strong, lasting relationships both within the community and with key partners. The park’s success relies on close collaboration with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and other state, local, and regional stakeholders. This role also serves as a visible presence in the community, engaging with local leaders, business owners, recreational user groups, and volunteers to support initiatives that enhance the visitor experience and protect the park’s resources. Your capacity to communicate effectively, build trust, and navigate these diverse relationships will be vital in creating a sense of shared stewardship for Lake Cascade State Park.
Housing is available for this position, making your transition to Cascade smoother and more convenient.
This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to shape the future of one of Idaho’s most cherished state parks. If you're a leader with a passion for the outdoors and a track record of effective management, we invite you to apply.
